In getting back into his music career, Yusuf should change his name back to Cat Stevens!

Cat Stevens was quite the piano player. I loved him and thought he was gorgeous, as did my friends, when I was 15. We loved his music. Then one day he disappeared.

I don't know what to make of him nowadays. But I sure loved his older stuff.

Wife, one daughter (wearing nice tablecloths) and granddaughter who is still allowed to be a little girl for a while longer.

his son doesn't have to wear a tablecloth

A "TABLECLOTH"...really?! Wow, what ignorance. rolleyes.gif Maybe you should learn about little more about what their culture really means and involves before shooting
your mouth off about something you know nothing about and don't understand. And if you really don't care about him, his way of life or his religion, just keep it shut in the first place.

I thought the show was fantastic and Cat sounds AMAZING! Good luck to him! At least he's been able to move beyond the predjudice and ignorance.

So let's get this straight: Angie IS allowed to state her opinion, because...well, just because. But anyone who disagrees with her opinion is hereby ordered to "keep it shut".

Because...? She thinks she's queen of the world? She thinks she is God? Or is there some other reason? rolleyes.gif

QUOTE (filly @ Apr 19 2009, 08:02 AM) *
I think that Cat Stevens is a genius and much more talented than Isaak. It seems like some people here have a lot of prejudices against Muslims. Perhaps you are influenced by the western media which likes to paint Muslims as being evil. Some of the nicest people that I know are Muslims.

The problem is not that Islam breeds violence and crime but polygamy. According to Psychology Today, countries in the Middle East and Africa where polygamy is legal are the most violent in the world. In those countries, because men can have many wives, there is a shortage of women. As a result, there will be some men who will never get married if they are too poor to afford a wife. Feeling like they have no future, these poor, single men will engage in more risky behaviour such as crime, terrorism, violence & rape. They will also become envious of men who have wives and will resort to rape if they can't have wives of their own. Women in Middle East must keep their heads covered as a protection against rape. However, the head covering doesn't protect them from rape since the envy of poor, unattached men from not having a wife is still present. This explains why the Middle East and Africa have such a high rate in rape and violence against women.

Another reason why the Aids epidemic is so high in Africa among women is that a lot of these women contracted Aids from rape.

Some of the more extreme sects of Mormons practice polygamy in this country. There are extremists and dangerous evil people in all parts of the world. Fortunately, they are the minority. Let's get over the hatred of any group because of different looks and practices.

Please clarify...what was it you think that you are educating people about?

And what was it you think that Stuff knows nothing about? She stated her opinions. You spewed yours and according to you she should "shut it" because you disagree with her.

Are you actually disputing the radical practices aspects of Muslim religion? You are disputing the fact that Muslim women are required to wear heavy garments (like tablecloths) from head to toe and are not allowed to drive and are required to marry whomever their male relatives order them to and are required to undergo genital mutilation before puberty and are routinely murdered for defying their male relatives or divorcing their husbands? Really? Or, are you just disputing the fact that Stuff and most other people find these practices objectionable? Does that mean that you think these practices are fine and dandy as long as the women agree to being stoned, mutilated, raped and murdered? Or, under what circumstances do you find these practices to be acceptable?

Since you are so educated on this topic, please link us to your informational sources which disprove the occurrence of these practices. I promise I will faithfully read whatever educational information you are able to present on this topic.

Or, did you just mean to dispute the fact that Stuff and most other people find these practices to be extremely objectionable? (You know, going back to your statement of how you are allowed to post your opinion because you know more than Stuff does, etc...)

Miss Snide, before you get on your high horse, Stuff can talk til she blue in the face if she could be civil and knowledgable, which she has been niether. She, much like YOU have just come on here being snide and snotty without provoiding any kind of debatable information other then showing your ignorance of another race. In other words, like I said, if you don't know what you are talking about or can't do it without making fun of other people and their beliefs....STFU!

She's made it quite clear she doesn't like Cat Stevens because of his religious views and by calling thier dress "a tablecloth" she is no better then someone making fun of her religious views, if she has any. How do *I* know what I am talking about? I have been subject to this kind of bullshit for my entire life. I am Lebanese and while I am Christian and don't agree with some of aspects of Muslim life, I know the ins and outs of people like Stuff who know absolutely nothing about Arabs or their culture yet continue to flap their gums like they think they do. I never disputed the FACTS of how Muslims live their lives...doesn't mean I find it appropiate to come on here and make fun of it and that IS what she is doing. She is not finding the more objectional things of their religion and civily disagreeing. She is making fun of it. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if someone made fun of something that was important to her. rolleyes.gif

Thank God Chris can obviously get past this kind of thing, even if some of his fans can't. I'm sure he'd be embarrassed to see your kind of response to someone he obviously holds in high regard.

Hmm, speaking of knowledgeable, I believe you meant NEITHER not niether, PROVIDING not provoiding, THEIR not thier, SUBJECTED not subject. And speaking of being civil, better move out of your glass trailer, princess. I'll save you the embarrassment and myself the time of proving you wrong by posting examples of your own snideness (just look back over this thread), but what this boils down to is, you are personally offended by Stuff's opinions. Boohoo.

Wow...why thank you captain obvious!! Of course I'm offended by her opinions, you twit, because she doesn't know what the f**k she is talking about! Are you reading this thread at all?! That's what it's about! LMAO!

If you guys worried half as much about what's going on in the world and getting your own heads out of your asses and less on spelling, I might give you some credibility.

I also don't give any credibility to anyone who has to shoot THEIR mouth off behind a "guest" label. rolleyes.gif

Yep, so much for your ridiculous claims of being civil and knowledgeable at all times. At least you aren't afraid to admit you're a dumb liar. Congratulations, it helps you loook slightly less stupid. But...you never clarified what it was you claimed she knew nothing about. Or tried to disprove anything she said.

And let's see your birth certificate, where it gives your full birth name as "Angie Kay". Post your SSN too, since you so enjoy proving your worth by revealing your "true" identity. (Now if only you'd do the same when you crash the old BH, you might really have something to brag about.)

Actually,it's Kunt Princess, but I was in a charitable mood.

Ah, yes, I remember you now, unfortunately. I see you still have nothing useful or productive to say or contribute besides hate. Sad really. Sorry, I can debate all day, but not with someone who is unarmed from the get go...and a coward to boot.

Regardless of Stuff's opinions on this or any other topic - and whether you agree with them or not - she has every right to express them when, and wherever she chooses, Angie. Unlike you, I AM qualified to comment on her character because I know the lady personally in RL, and can tell you that you'd have to go a hell of a long way to find a better human being. We're poles apart politcally-speaking also, but at the end of the day who gives a shit? Life's too short and good friends too hard to find these days to let something as trivial as opinions on politics or rockstars (that's current ones, has-been ones, come-back ones, Islamic ones, or even pretty-boy, blue-eyed ones from Stockton) get in the way of a good friendship. Something else I know Stuff wouldn't do, and that's judge a person's entire character simply by a few words posted on an internet message forum.....I find it kind of ironic that that's the very thing you're doing Angie, while you accuse her of not knowing what she's talking about......
