That 70s show is VERY SARCASTIC.
I'm with CI on this one...sarcasm isn't funny and if he was raised like me...if I said some of the stuff kids said on t.v. to their parents or anyone...it definitely didn't end with canned laughter! -------------------- "Doug! The camera is still rolling!" - Anonymous woman Revelation 3:17 (New International Version) 17You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. "It seems to be the fashion to take love as it comes, to examine it rather minutely, and to dismiss it rather lightly, perhaps a little sadly, and move on to greater things." - Exley, a fan's notes "Whatever it is that you desire, it can all be found in one place – La Costa Resort and Spa. So what are you longing for?" "What is appealing is the idea of attaining the unattainable and learning from it. Once you obtain a fantasy it becomes a reality, and that reality is not as exciting as your fantasy. Through the fantasies you learn to appreciate your own realities." - Ricardo Montalban analyzing the success of Fantasy Island "Los Angeles is a town completely consumed by perception." - Alec Baldwin, A Promise to Ourselves "Finding out what people are like in the world of entertainment was really a scary experience….I had a very naïve expectation that people were basically intelligent and honorable, and all of that was completely destroyed once I got into the music business," - Tom Scholz of Boston "[Your relationship with your manager] is like a marriage when it is good." - The Billboard Illustrated Home Recording Handbook "Entertainment is my life!" - Chris Isaak "the scene of this world is changing." - 1 Corinthians 7:31 |

You're right, KV. There is way too much sarcasm and disrespect on TV, and in the real world as well! As I raise my 3 yr old, I keep in the back of my mind that I want to teach her to be respectful.
I have a very sarcastic 13 yr old stepdaughter (she is truly a smarta@#). It's to the point now where if she says something nice or gives me a compliment, my 1st instinct is that she is messing with me! It's too bad that TV relies so much on sarcasm as opposed to wit. Whatever happened to Wit? I miss it..... |
