I noticed the body language thing in the last half, too. I wondered if anyone else did. He seemed to have myriad bitchy thoughts going through his head as he listened to the interviewees' responses. Or I could just be reading in to everything! I thought that the <i>Prison Break</i> actor's jab was a little uncalled for, but hey--the man can take it, right?

Re: the board banter--I'm new to this board, but have been active in lots of band message boards in the past, and unfortunately they all suffer from the same kind of flaming wars. (Not that this has devolved into such a thing, really.) I would think the Isaak set would be a little more congenial, but I think it's all too easy to type something quick-witted and send it off into space somewhat anonymously. Aw well. Keep the peace, people.

Yeah, Chris guest co-hosting on Regis and Kelly is a terrible fit and the show is dreadful, agreed. It's a lousy showcase for Chris Issak... but as to the rest...do you actually even like the guy???

If I had to sit through an interview with an American Idol contestant who has a TV movie inspired by her life, I would be leaning as far back as possible and trying not to interject much myself!!!!

Thank you! Now I finally understand why the previous references to American Idol were made ... it takes a while for the penny to drop All I can say is POOR CHRIS! The things he has to put up with! I've never seen the American show but the Aussie rip-off, Australian Idol is just the pits (I watched 5 minutes of one show to form that opinion and make no apologies for never watching it again!!) The whole concept is off, it hasn't produced any singer worth listening to. It's a good job my sister-in-law doesn't read this board because I'm about to have a laugh at her (love ya lots, Anne!) We sort of have different tastes in music and I had this reinforced again recently. First up, she is a huge Cliff Richard fan, but doesn't "get" Chris Isaak. That sets the tone, okay?! I heard Cliff in a shop yesterday btw "doing" The 12th of Never. That's an awful song anyway, but Sir Cliff added a whole new dimension

Anyway, my daughter and I were slagging off Shannon Noll, who was a runner-up in Australian Idol and is the best known of those that have been on the show. He is really, really bad, alright? We were having a good time getting stuck into him, when my sister-in-law chipped in that she really liked him! So then the conversation turned to cheesy boy bands and the like. My daughter works in a record store, and this was just after Mothers' Day (middle of May) and she said she was sick to death of hearing this type of music over the speakers, saying that they all sounded the same and were shite. (I added that it didn't follow that you have to automatically love all this rubbish if you're a mother and it was insulting!!) She mentioned Il Divo (ugh!) and I helped out with Human Nature (double ugh!) and my sister-in-law said she really enjoys them both! That's when we decided to just talk about the weather

Anyways, again I feel for Chris. It's quite amazing how much discussion his mishap has generated.

Well, I just read Kenny's Journal update on the offical website and apparently they got minimal sleep while taking a quick flight from there last concert just to get to the Regis and Kelly show on time. So just doing that and staying awake I think is doing good. But come on, I mean really, I didn't really care for the guests on there other than really just watching it because Chris was on there. Hey, he might not have been to crazy about the guests either and he could have been just going with the flow. But it would have been great if he could have played a tune on there.

I also think that Chris could've sang one of his songs on the "Live With Regis & Kelly" episode that he did yesterday. I wonder why he chose not to. I guess probably either he was still a little tired from the night before or he just simply wanted to save his singing voice for that night at the Beacon.

WOW! I thought I missed a lot the last time I was away from the board for a while. Everyone has always been so nice on here, and now the fur's flying! I hope the scuffle is over now. Well, I seen and taped the whole show and there was NO Asian girl in the audience holding his hand. It probably was the dancer that he grabbed hands with on stage. If anything Rodney appeared again- showing SHERYL is there.

I know you really enjoyed it too! I have been told, by you and by my sister-in-law, that he does put a lot into his live shows. I think he's done really well with what he's got, you have to hand it to him. He's been in the business for almost 50 years so he must have got something right! I have nothing against him, he seems a nice man, I just don't like his voice. He shouldn't have bothered with the cosmetic surgery (another nice looking man it didn't improve!) and he should stop spinning and jumping around like a teenager! LOLOL! I know very little about them either and I'll keep it that way, thank you! I'm not an opera fan, but I like David Hobson too. He's very easy on the eye, seems like a really nice bloke and he's got a lovely voice. And he started out as a rock singer, as I know you'll know! He's found his niche and has done very well out of it, so good on him!

You're a good sport for having a laugh about it! You'd have plenty to talk about with my sister-in-law. She's the nicest person, calls a spade a shovel and we get on very well. She's lovely

Cliff Richard: My flatmate of the time/best friend (still) and I were BIG fans back in the 80's. We went to see him at Festival Hall (remember THAT venue?! ) and we got tickets in the fifth or sixth row - which, until now (I've got a ticket in the third row to see Chris up at Rochford) had been the best seat I've ever had for anything. He was great in concert. Had a great rapport with the audience and of course, he sounded great (but then again, he's been around for so long, he'd better know what he's doing by now. )

Human Nature: I just love their harmonising. I'm not so keen on their Motown stuff though (didn't even bother getting that CD). I prefer it when they sing their OWN stuff. They sing a gorgeous love song called 'September Girl' off one of their earlier CD's - I put that one on repeat when I play it.

Shannon: I didn't like him at first either, but he's grown on me. I am NOT at all a fan of Australian Idol, I think it's excrable, lol, so I agree 150% with you on that one. I haven't bought any of his CD's as yet - just downloaded a couple of songs from iTunes that I really like (i.e. 'Shine').

Il Divo: Aren't even worth mentioning anymore...

David Hobson: Well, I just gave myself a cheap thrill and looked up his website. Not only does it have pictures of him plastered all over the front page, but I was quite happy to discover there's a soundbite there too - and he's actually singing my favourite piece of opera of all time (just leave your speakers turned down if you don't like opera, lol). Yeah, I knew he'd started off as a rock singer, but I had no idea he'd won that 'It Takes Two' show - that's another crappy thing I never bothered to watch. :-) I actually have a little story about him. Several years ago a friend and I went up to the same winery where Chris & Co. will be playing in November (Rochford - although it was known as 'Eyton on the Yarra' back then) to see Hobson and other singers from the Victorian Opera Company in an 'Opera Under the Stars' thing up there. We got there pretty early, and grabbed a good spot on the grass right in front of the soundshell. It was so early, the singers were there warming up. My friend and I looked at each other, and we both kind of went, 'ooooh look.... there's David Hobson over there' when he looked right over at us and gave us what I call 'the stare', lol. Now, he's married with child...so I think he was just checking out the scenery, so to speak. Anyway, that was a lovely night. The music was wonderful, all the singers were great, and a glass of wine or two made it all even better!

When Angela (whateverhernameis) asked about why they broke up, he kind of slyly hinted that they hadn't? heh heh...so I guess there's another one you can add to the ever-growing list.

Ahh...I must watch that tape back again. You could be right! Whatever though.... you know, with all the names we have on the list now, the Isaak 'harem' just keeps on growin' and growin' huh?!

I'll tell you another thing about that 'Backstage Pass' interview, I noticed he was MUCH more switched on in that one than the other ones he did down here. He was very witty, and so funny. IMHO, he seemed a little less so in some of his other ones. My theory is that it was probably one of the last interviews (if not the last one), so he was relieved and happy it was all over and looking forward to going back home. You know, it must be SO freaking hard to come up with original answers to the same old questions - and to keep looking enthusiastic about it too, lol. I think he does a great job at doing all of that - he's such a professional. He must have been SO tired throughout this last trip out here because his schedule was downright scary. I worry about his health sometimes (seriously). I'm sure his mother does too. His touring schedule is jam-packed as well. I just hope he makes the most of whatever little time he must get off over the next few months and rests up as much as he can.

I feel for those of you in Los Angeles. Here in Chris' hometown the show was also cut into! I knew it was going to happen so I called my sister in Wash. and asked her to tape it. Thankfully the channel didn't play all of the press conference. I think that alot of people called KCRA complaining. I called 3 times, being transferred all over the place!!!! Like the poster from L.A. said, it was mostly thank you's, no real news at all!!! I am so glad that Chris wasn't seriously hurt? Sounds like it could have easily gone differently?

The sad thing is, news is more entertainment than news in this day and age.

Does anyone find the irony in this statement amusing?

A) Mostly everyone posting messages about Chris geting pre-empted were mad about that.
Then someone posts a message with a different viewpoint (that person values news over entertainment).
C) Then several members jump on that person (and vent about the Ramsey case as well).
D) Then someone else (who could have used much better language!) suggests that everyone chill out and let people have their own opinions.

And then someone writes "Boy, if you can't handle just a little difference in opinions, then you shouldn't hang out here." HA! The irony!

Instead of dragging this board down into the gutter, why not just let opposing opinions stand? Why does every flippin' board have to have people who like to jump on others and tell them that their opinion is wrong? Honestly, I don't think people really practice what they preach. The essence of free speech is to tolerate differing opinions, not shout them down. The reason I posted this message is not to fan the flames or start a debate of any sort, but to show how pointless it is to be sarcastic, engage in namecalling, and expect to change someone else's opinions.

So the next time we read an opinion that we don't all agree with, why cn't we just let it stand? What's the big deal? I think it's okay to state your own opnion in response, but what's the use of shooting down someone else's opinion in the process? It's kind of rude. Live and let live.

Well, maybe I'm the oddball here, but I think news announcing the capturing a suspected child killer is more important than listening to celebrities chat about fashion, movies and cooking. I like Chris Isaak as much as the next fan, but I think some fans have a bit of a skewed perspective on what's more important. (Or maybe I just value news over entertainment.)

Where can we watch this Backstage Pass show?! Is it on You Tube?

No, unfortunately....sorry. I just spent the last twenty minutes searching for info. on this show for you on Google - and there's hardly anything out there. There are a few bits and pieces about the show's host (whose name is Angela Pulvirenti btw - including a rather sarcastic piece called 'Backstage Arse' - but the less said about that the better ) but, there's nothing on the interview itself that I could find. The (Australian) Channel 9 website is woefully inadequate. Even the production company doesn't have any info. available it seems....I'll see if I can get a transcript of it uploaded over the next few days. It'll depend on when I get a chance to watch the tape back though. That looks like the best that can be done right now.
