Thought this might be a fun thread to start:

Whether it be a funny, sad, humiliating or exciting memory- please share as no doubt you all have something to share.

I'll start with my most embarrassing moment with Chris in 1999 in Melbourne and a few further snippets.

He was doing an appearance at a place called the JAM Factory. He was wearing a fushia colored suit and the rest of the lads were with him. They sang a few songs and then the hearding of the fans began. I really shouldn't have been there as I was moving houses and was really in a major tizz! Not on a sane thinking level is not the right frame of mind to see Chris and the lads in. My friend went before me and left him with a blank look on her face, which I thought was amusing as he kept talking and she just stood there with a goofy look on her face- I wouldn't do something like that!!

My turn. Tired and in my own little world, I exchange pleasantries, he asks for my name, I say it and the rest goes down hill from there. He asks what I had been doing which I reply, then with that I lost my concentration thinking about removalists etc and he was talking to me and all I could hear was mumble mumble mumble, then ll I ended up saying was my name AGAIN - geez what a total senior moment! I looked over to my friend and she was wetting herself laughing! I walk off and my friend asks me what did I say- I ask why, she says because Chris was giving me the raised eyebrow look. LEt's just say I get reminded about this incident by all my friends and we all laugh hysterically each time.

BTW- the next time I saw him I argued about a photo of him! Then the next time we talked about sushi and food poisoning. And the meetings go on and I'm used to speaking to him now. Speaking to Kenney is a riot, Roly is quietly spoken but nice and Hershel is like Roly, very polite.

Ladybird, that's a fun thread! It was very interesting to read about your meeting with him. Do you want to tell us about the other times you met him, why did you argue about a photo for example?

I haven't met Chris so I don't have any memories to share, but I look forward to reading the stories from the other members who have met him!

Great hearing about your meet & greet with Chris. I'd love to hear what he said about sushi and food poisoning. I always loved the episode of The Chris Isaak Show when he had the sushi and then spit it out and Michael Buble ate it. Very funny!!

My sister, nephew and I saw Chris in Chicago in 2002, but didn't have time to check out the meet and greet, so in 2003 I took my nephew to see Chris for his 13th birthday in Minneapolis...he is a HUGE Chris fan thanks to his mother and I. Devon had had to do a school project that spring for school: "Who is your hero". He did his on Chris Isaak. He showed me the project and a HUGE tagboard of Chris pictures and album covers. He was SO excited when he found out that Chris would be signing stuff after the show. My sister had a different seat in the venue so she got out ahead of us and met Chris first. She was telling him about my nephew and his project, so by the time Devon and I got to him, Chris said, "I've heard all about you!". While Chris signed his cd, Devon told him all about the project and how much he enjoyed his music and I got some great pictures of the two of them talking. They are on my home computer and I'm at work or I would post one. He was on cloud nine the rest of the night, especially after getting to talk to the rest of the band.

The next day we were all out to lunch with my mom and Devon puts down his fork and says, "I'm still shaking". I said, "Why?". He said, "BECAUSE I MET CHRIS ISAAK LAST NIGHT!!! " What a great experience for a 13 year old. Chris just absolutely made his night by totally doting on Devon while he told his story. My sister and nephew live overseas now, on the Isle of Guernsy and he just turned 16 last Friday. I got on Amazon and ordered him up the new cd/dvd. I hope he enjoys it!

AngieKay, that is a way cool story you shared with us on how you met Chris. That is neat that your nephew got to meet him too. That is indeed a good experience for a 13-year old. wink.gif

I should have posted my story in here but check out my short story under "Aunt Zinnia" I know Keny Johnson and met Chris when he was first starting out in San Francisco, I ran a rock&roll club there.. It was a long time ago......sigh
Miss SugarDLuxe
Awesome thread Miss Ladybird and it's so cool to see a lot more people sharing stories. I think we've all been a little tongue
tied at one point or another .... well I know I have! Surprisingly enough, not on the first ever meet.

Being pretty much last in the queue, Chris thanked us for waiting. He asked for my name and signed my hat. Best thing was
that we ran into him while leaving the Convention Centre and stopped him for some photo's. I was actually a little shocked
that I had the nerve to stop him for a pic but I just blurted it out. I asked him and b/f to do something, not just stand there,
so Chris started dancing with her. I've posted pics in Favourite Chris Isaak Concert thread - bare in mind, photo's were taken
in '96!

Ummm then there was the Sydney gig where Chris asked about my Mr Horsepower jacket. It had a little patch on the front
but I had to turn around and show him the back of the jacket. ( which was really hard to do when you are jammed in with
other fans. ) I'm pretty sure the people behind me weren't impressed but I wasn't too worried as Chris started to draw Mr
Horsepower on my shirt. He said it was a really cool jacket.

The last concert I went to, I actually took my Aunty for the first time. She was so cute and really excited. When we were
in line she was nervous but had her shirt signed and one for my cousin. I was laughing as Chris signed the one for my
cousin ( male cousin ) with a love heart (he had no idea who it was for mind you) and my aunty was chatting about
something when he moved over to my shirt, asked my name and then said he liked my hair and all I got out was fanks.
Couldn't spit out the TH! All the way home all I could say was Chris liked my hair... did I tell you that Chris liked my hair! rolleyes.gif And my aunty laughed and said FANKS!

Thank God I did better at the cocktail party. Just goes to show that some days are better then others.

*hugs*

The photo thing was about a photo someone gave me of him and he denied it was him so we argued and then he winked and kept on signing autographs. I ate some sushi/japanese food prior to a CI show and got food poisoning from it and had to leave the show. Nothing really exciting about these 2. Ladybird

Ladybird, sorry to hear that you got food poisoning. sad.gif I hope you fully recuperated from that after it happened.

This happened last summer at Konocti - I was walking up to Hershel to ask him if he'd sign my tshirt. This blonde babe was talking to him and just as I walked up she slaps him across the face, spins on her heel and as she tosses back her hair says "see you at the bar."

You should have seen the look on his face!! Like one of those jaw dropped OMG looks. He looked at me and I laughed and said "better hurry!"
Miss SugarDLuxe

Are we talking a full on slap across the face or a play slap?
Did Hersh know this blonde vixen. *giggle*

Getouttadenver,

Wow! I haven't witnessed anything like that at a meet and greet. The ones I have been too are pretty tame. Chris is always polite to me. I don't slap anyone and no one slaps me. Darn boring, I guess. mellow.gif wink.gif

wow,

maybe my Chris meeting was alittle more exciting than the rest.

I saw him in 2004 in Cleveland, Ohio. My mother had bought us 2 front row center tickets for her birthday and mine. The show was beyond amazing. As the night went on I thought Chris was staring at me but you know everyone thinks that. Then people around me started telling me that Chris was staring at me but again I though yeah ok. So my mom and I waited after the show for the meet and greet. I walked up and he was doing the usual hello's and autographs. Then my turn comes and my mom blurts out "this is my daughter I brought her tonight for her birthday". He looks up and says "its you!" and he announces "I was looking at you all night". I almost passed out right there. He drops his pen and reaches over and grabs my sweater and starts tugging at it. I guess I should say at this point I have ALOT of tattoos. He gets my sweater off and looks at me, grabs my hand and says "promise you will never tattoo your face, promise" and I said "yes, I promise". I just stand there almost half outta my mind. I say "thanks" and walk away. I didn't even know what to do.

I went back once the line went down and asked for pictures.

Pretty much the best experience of my life!

I'm going to my first concert in Boca Raton, FL this September. How do you get to the "meet and greet"? Do you need tickets or does it depend on seating? I spent alot on the tickets, from a broker, and really would love an autograph. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi. smile.gif I'm afraid I can't help you out - I've never been to one. But, I believe you just go and line up after the show. Dunno if this is immediately after the show ends, or if there's some kind of interval in between (so Chris can get showered, changed etc.). I think you can also get your photo taken with him as well. There are heaps of others here who can give you better info. than that, so I'm sure someone else will come along. smile.gif

[font=Microsoft Sans Serif][size=3][b]Hi... I am new to the updated website.. I remember the one with the chinese firecrackers and hidden games.. which drove me bonkers..

I met Chris .. Very briefly.. for about two minutes in the 2002 show in Melbourne, Australia at the Palais in St Kilda.

I booked the evening and took my sister her man and my friend and I out to the Stokehouse for dinner.. then after that the show.. Which was great.. everyone kinda went to the front of the stage.. and I was kneeling down the front at one stage..( confessing.. ) ha:) My fav song was Notice the ring.. LOVED that..

At the meet and greet afterward.. which is really very nice of him to do.. I stood in line waiting for him to sign my tshirt.. and I had brought him a gift.. well a kinda green trojan horse I think.. U see I had a friend who I met online who is a pilot.. Lets just call him Scumby.. and he knows Chris cus he took him to Afghanistan with the USO .. anyway to cut a long story short .. they chatted and Chris happened to mention that he would like a helmet bag to keep his computer in.. so I was sent that by my friend at the time..( had a falling out...) to give to him at the show.. He had it embroidered with Musicman on the front..

So.. he bent down to sign my shirt.. and off I went.. It sounded like I was racecalling... Man I dont think Ive ever tried to talk so fast.. I felt the g force in my mouth.. I think I sounded something like this: " Hi Chris , you dont know me ( DUH!) unsure.gif but you know the guy who took you to Afghanistan.. A pilot.. YAddah yadah yah ... jfo0ewir 0i90rpfnhvo f riewriewr kff93rklew and some more inexplicable sounds.. (No moaning..)
anyway.. his manager took it.. said thanks and he moved on to the next person.. I have a photo.. of him trying to figure out whether Im legit or a crazed fan.. ( of Kenneys) on myspace.. whiterabbit4u look me up and see the photos..

What happened next was cool... he stopped deliberately.. and moved back to me.. as I was standing there catching my breath.. and looked me in the eye ..and said " Thank You.." and hurriedly moved back to the corale.. signing the next persons shirt/cd...

So.. thats my story.. I hope to meet him .. actually talk normally would be good.. but I really want to meet Roly Salley... as well..

Hope you all enjoyed it.. Kx rolleyes.gif

well they usually announce that he will be doing a meet and greet. They say you have to buy something for him to sign. I suggest buying something as soon as you get there, his stuff sells fast.

The meet and greets start about 5 to 10 min after the show is over. He was changed and smelled amazing after the show in Cleveland.

He was pretty mobed though so I waited towards the end of the line.

I have a question! I am going to my first show in Vegas on July 8th. I am really looking forward to the meet and greet. I have already purchased a copy of the Best Of CD, will he sign that or do I have to buy something else at the concert? I don't want a signed t-shirt because then I will never wear it, lol. I would really like him to sign my CD and I obviously don't want to buy another one. Plus, my husband's best friend met Chris when he was serving in Bahrain and sent me a pic of the him with Chris. Any chance I could get him to sign that? I don't want to look like a complete moron when I go. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated! biggrin.gif
ChrisIsFine
Carrie, yes you can bring your copy of the "Best Of" cd and have Chris sign it for you at the concert you are going to. As for the photo of your husband's best friend posing with Chris in Behrain, I am not sure if Chris can sign that or not. I don't have a clue about that. Maybe someone can help you out with that question. Have a great and wonderful time at the Vegas show on July 8th.

Hey there whiterabbit4u,

I couldn't help but laugh when I read your story, the racecalling bit did it.
I think we've all felt like that at one time or another but I've only ever
managed to spit out a few words like Hi or thank you so to have to
actually complete a full sentance. huh.gif

What an awesome experience though and it's totally cool that

Nice to have you on the board

CarrieLF
Deanna,

Thank you! I thought it would be ok to bring my own, but I just wanted to be sure. I guess I'll bring the picture along and see what happens. Worst case he'll only be able to sign the CD.

When my husband's friend Thomas had his picture taken with Chris he told me that he said "dude, my best friend's wife loves you" and he said that Chris said "really?" I flipped when that picture came in the mail. And of course when he got back I asked him a ton of questions about meeting Chris. Now I will be able to tell him all about seeing him live myself.

Can I say again that I'm so excited! I can't wait to see CI&S live for my first time. It's really fitting actually that I see Chris for the first time in Vegas. This trip is my 30th birthday present from my hubby. The first trip my hubby and I took together when we were dating was to Vegas. Then we went back to get married, and we also spent our first anniversary there too. Obviously we love Vegas. I haven't been since then, which was 3 1/2 years ago. We are so looking forward to this trip.

Thanks again for the info! I'll post about the show afterwards.

You can always get the signed t-shirt framed. I did that last year. It's on my wall and looks great. Michaels can mount it/frame it for you. Also, if you have a t-shirt signed, you can wear it no problem because the ink does not wear off after many washes. (I have two other signed t-shirts and I wear them.)

Carrie, I hope you have a great time at the July 8th Las Vegas show with your husband that Chris is doing. wink.gif Fifi, glad that you can still wear your CI signed concert tshirt that you bought out. I am glad that the link never fades away even if you wash it. smile.gif

I've got three shirts which have been signed by the guys and I've been

I can put them all in a box frame!

We all had pizza & hot dogs after sound check. 15,000 people showed up for this San Francisco show!

I will post other photos from that show, as soon as I get my hands on them.

In this photo, I was overdue for a shower! We had been there for 13 hours, and I wouldn't leave for another 4!

Chris actually drove to the rear of the back stage in his '69 Pontiac Le Mans convertable! His favorite car for quick exits!

I'll be seeing Him this next Tuesday at a county Fair concert here in Orange County, Ca.

Growing up in Marin County, Ca., the '60's, '70's & '80's allowed me to be practally neighbors ( & actually school mates) to a number of up & coming bands.

The Dead, Creedence ( actually they are from Bezerkley), Huey Lewis, Night Ranger ( local name Night Rider), Airplane, (then -Starship w/ Micky Thomas), Journey, Santana, Stevie Nicks, Jessy Collen Young, Tower of Power, Elvin Bishop, Pablo Cruise, Doobie Bros., Y & T ( they pissed me off - they stole a song from my friend's band), Donny Iris ( one hit wonder), Chambers Bros. ( they opened up for Isaak that night shown in photo), ...it's getting late, I can't think of the others, who were from that area.

One of the coolest local combination bands, was Singer Micky Thomas (singer Starship), guitarist Elvin Bishop, Tower of Power members, Starship drummer, & sometimes Journey's lead picker Neal Schon....... The name of the band was called;

" Little Gaget and the Soulfull Twilights" ( Little Gadget was the nick name for Micky Thomas )

Sort of the same, off-shoot type band, Led Zepplin did with "The Honeydrippers".

The secret local live club was called "Uncle Charlie's" is where they liked playing. The stage was used in the Heuy Lewis video, "The Power of Love'" for the Back to the Future movie.

( Another bit of trivia )- American Graffity was filmed here... That was fun, I worked on the Duce Coupe & '56 Chevy.

I did see the movie "American Graffiti". It was a good movie. That's neat that you got to work on the Duece Coupe & 1956 Chevy. I have seen Huey Lewis's music video "The Power Of Love" from the movie "Back To The Future" and I remember that they played inside some club.

Depending on your age ( un-politicaly correct), remember the news story, about Journey's Neal Schon getting stopped by the City of Corta Madera Police. He had been drinking a little bit, but when they searched him, they found a 1 gram bindle of Coke in the pocket of his leather jacket. Neal explained that he had picked up the wrong jacket at the bar, and the stuff wasn't his. ".....The police would have believed him, if the jacket didn't fit him so well...".

He was at Uncle Charlie's. Us locals laughed a bit because, besides Stevie Nicks, Neal was a consumer of the product. ( Along with 90% everyone else during that time)

All us guys wanted to be a 'guy-friend' of Stevie...... Her favorite guys recieved Porsches and other neat stuff.

I remember now.... the other musician I would meet at 'after-parties' at a friend's house, was Sammy Haggar. His "I can't drive - 55" song was when he was stopped by the cops speeding back south from Petaluma ( Sonoma County) into Marin, on Hwy 101. That's his explaination describing his Ferrari.

Living 30 years in Marin County........ I'll have to remember other stories.

IT'S AMAZING YOU'VE SURVIVED WITH PEOPLE LIKE SAMMY H. ON THE ROAD AND EVERYONE HIGH ON SOMETHING.

Believe me, these guys didn't get as high as often as the news reported. They did not become professionals & successful by sheer luck.

We all partied, but we also had to work. I wasn't involved within the personal business of most of these people & friends...... We were friends, and knew the same people. The sound engineering on-stage was a part-time gig for me. I was 1 of 2 managers for a popular local band, and that's how I met most everyone. We would stop by & hang out at their personal studios.

Our band, "CHUMBI", had a large rehearsal studio in Marin. Huey's band had a smaller studio across from us ( St. Joseph's Ct., Terra Linda ) For a short while. They made a few bucks soon after.

Hi. smile.gif I'm afraid I can't help you out - I've never been to one. But, I believe you just go and line up after the show. Dunno if this is immediately after the show ends, or if there's some kind of interval in between (so Chris can get showered, changed etc.). I think you can also get your photo taken with him as well. There are heaps of others here who can give you better info. than that, so I'm sure someone else will come along. smile.gif

It is immdeiately after the show, he changes really quick and the line is already formed, since many people know the drill. He spends a couple of hours doing it! I can't believe I just found out about this 3 years ago!! I asked a security guard what was going on, and he told me. Well, I got right in line for a T-shirt and he let me sneak in right up front. Very unusual for me, I'm never that lucky. Actually, I usually get hassled by security, always bugging me about where I'm standing, yelling and threatening to throw ME out if they see ME again...(that was at a Bruce show in a huge venue and I just wanted to get a little closer) I have a real long personal story, funny and so unbelievable, I thought I'd see it as a premise for an episode of The Chris Isaak Show! I'll post it some time this week.

Speaking to Kenney is a riot, Roly is quietly spoken but nice and Hershel is like Roly, very polite.

cheers Ladybird

My experiances are ALL of those adjectives, I will submit it as soon as I have time to tell it!
