I am wondering if they aren't talking about "Best Of" there? It listed a lot of stuff happening in the spring and summer of 2006? The page may say Dec. 2006, but I think the information is old. I hope they are referring to a new album. sad.gif

I see on Amazon that the Best of cd was released on May 9, 2006, seems a bit coincidental if the new one is a year later almost to the day....... But, let's all hope it is true!

It is coincidental, but not really. Generally, albums are released on Tuesdays.

May 9 was a Tuesday in 2006.
May 8 is a Tuesday in 2007.

Chris is starting his annual North American "summer" tour a little earlier this year (late April) in order to support the May 8, 2007 release date.

Thanks! Very exciting news indeed! He really will be working hard once the holidays are over then, to get the cd done that quickly! Have you gotten to hear any of it? When generally, is the tour schedule released? A few months prior? I am just itching to see if he will be here again....

Well S.I.R.E. I am glad to hear Chris is starting the tour a bit earlier- end of April as you say. Can you pull a few strings- April 27th is my birthday and I happen to live in Northern California- it would make a helluva gift for me to attend a concert on my birthday:D

He hasn't finished recording all the songs yet.

It'd be great if the May date you reference were correct, but I doubt it given the above fact.

Of course, an Indie could do it (finish recording it, master and take it to market themselves) in less than 4 months, but we are talking about 'Mr. Perfectionist', here.

Chris really made it sound like it would be closer to the end of the year in that interview with Torgen? It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple months! But I still think that was not current news. Sorry, I didn't see a "2007" asscociated with the new album on that page? I hope that I am wrong!! IPB Image

I have to say that I agree with Uncle Pat and Kathy....for the reasons they both give. It makes sense that Chris and the guys are pretty well perfectionists in their craft (lucky for us fans) and will take their time.
Either way, we win!!! smile.gif Even if we do have to wait!!! tongue.gif

It definitely seems like last year's postings...for example, Huey Lewis is listed for touring with Chicago (the group) in June and July, which was definitely last year -- they aren't touring with them this year....so I wouldn't be too excited from that posting

Uncle Pat, you of all people should know that Chris recorded several other songs during the same sessions he recorded "King Without A Castle" and "I Want You To Want Me."
Although I agree with you that he is likely to record additional material, even at the last minute like he did with his "Forever Blue" acoustic version for the "Best of," he already has the bulk of his songs "in the can" (recorded).
He has, in a way, already gone "indie" with his Wicked Game label (really an "imprint") distributed by Warner. He was considering having Wicked Game Records become an affiliated label of Sunset (name coincidental) Records Group (see below), but is sticking with Warner.

Sunset Records Group (SRG) Posts Another Quarterly Earnings Increase

(PRWEB) May 25, 2006 -- Sunset Records Group (SRG) has just posted an earnings increase during its first quarter, thanks largely to a boost in its digital sales and more notably, its live download revenues.

With only its third full quarter of operations since the company started distributing music to stores now completed, the results included are the revenue increases involving the entire company SRG. Overall earnings at SRG increased during the three-month period ending March 31st, up from 32.02% from the fourth quarter of sales revenues last year, and revenues are up a staggering 55.12% during the half year-ago period.

A major reason for that increase in revenues is that Sunset-Live has grown to over $30,000 a month in live download revenues for the last three consecutive months nearly doubling the revenues from the last quarter. Meanwhile, the live download company continues to climb to a commanding second in that market share claiming at least 38 percent of the live download market.

The catalog of live downloads has reached over 1,000 that are currently for sale now at Sunset's Online Store. The company will now start to release its live catalog with participating artists exclusively as a label partner at iTunes , Sony Connect, eMusic and Real/Rhapsody. eSunset records, the digital only record label at SRG also released 28 CDs, 264 single downloads by 23 different artists to online retailers all over the world this last quarter.

“There are many bands that are on the road that should be allowing their fans to do live downloads ,” says Doug Rayburn , the head of Sunset's Digital Entertainment Division. “Don (Lichterman) and I just started talking about adding some great bands to the Sunset-Live roster just this week,” say's Rayburn.

(PRWEB) May 2, 2006 -- eSunset Records releases the entire Sunset Records catalog of recorded music at iTunes, SONY's Connect, AOL Music, Yahoo Music, Napster and at every online retailer in the world including its' own Sunset Online Store.

eSunset Records has done an amazing job of mixing older catalog titles along digitally distributing brand new titles that were just released like the Lotus, The Strength Of The Weak Ties CD, The Kids Are Funky Too CD and the latest CD by The Frank & Joe Show called Submarine Subs, which boats jazz legends Frank Vignola and Joe Ascione. Also just released by eSunset are full length CDs by Greg Harris, El Hula, AKA, Boy George, ((Sounder)), Tommy Conwell, Goldie, Nixon Presley not to mention the new release of many individual songs that are now available for download such as the Charlie Gracie / Graham Nash duet, songs by the Sneaker Pimps, the Crystal Method, Gavin Friday, Tosca, Leftfield and more. The entire eSunset catalog of over 2,500 songs is now available for download at any retailer around the world.

The digital only record label at Sunset's Records Group also had a busy month with new artist signings with the Green Room, Shane Mac, Glare, and Fake and expect new artist signings every month. eSunset is also the main digital distribution tool and digital distribution home for many record labels like Harmonized Records, Sunnyside Records, More Protein Records, Metalheadz Records, Barn Burner Records, and Volcom Records that make up the total of 32 independent record labels that are now distributed through the eSunset digital only record label.

“The overall distribution system at Sunset is the most fair and effective way to have an artist distributed and I am talking more than at any label in the world,” says Doug Reyburn, the President of eSunset Records. Reyburn continues to say that “if we see many downloads at eSunset, than our first reaction is to pick up that option to release that CD at our main record company," the traditional way at bricks and mortars stores around the world.

I think I am inclined to agree with UP, the way Chris was talking about the new album it was more towards the end of 07. Wouldnt that mean if he released a new album just after his greatest hits that would mean more touring to promote the new one in May this year? Talk about burning the candle at both ends! But goodie for us fans then especially if it means another tour of Oz so close to the one he just finished.

Kitty

Not that it's on topic, but Huey Lewis and the News most certainly DID tour with Chicago in June and July of last year, as well as his, yes, current run on Broadway in the musical CHICAGO; the website was referring to the rock tour, so the original point was simply that I think the Isaak date was for his greatest hits, and that the new album still doesn't have a date...

Hello, SIRE!!

Ummmm, truth be told, King Without a Castle was NOT recorded during 'the same sessions' as IWYTWM (the Isaak version, butt of course), although it is true that Isaak has 8 (actually 9 as of December, I think) finished songs ready to go.

Of course, one would think he's gonna put at least 10 on the new cd (hopefully, anyway), however, any new songs (even a short EP) would be most welcome by the fans, I am sure.

Anyway, as Hersh did not play on the recorded version of King Without A Castle used on the GH (U.S Release), this may give you a lil' bitty clue as to when it was recorded.

We may even all go out on a limb and venture a guess that Isaak has been ripe to release some new material for quite some time, no?!?!

With new material forthcoming and new upcoming tour dates already hittin' the Pollstar Pipes, looks like it'll be a good year for all concerned.

XXO!!

Uncle Pat

BTW, Feliz Ano Nuevo, and thanks to my favorite Lil 'Heartbreaker' for my Christmas CD prezzie!!

P.P.S. Hey, K.V. et al, thanks for posting those upcoming tour dates!! I reckon I'd best start rollin' them pennies, huh?!?!

CandyCane,

How about we just get this over with? Who is it exactly that I "don't give a break to"? Other than you one time, that is? I think I have been exceedingly nice to everyone else here, but who am I to say? Just an observation that you may have the wrong person yet again with that comment. And, why would it be your business if I do not give other people here a break anyway? Maybe you could just be concerned with you, and not my relationships with others here? I mean, you get all over me for saying something that if you paid any amount of attention you would have known I did not say, and now you are all over me for responding to your comment, and basically defending myself from your ridiculous post? Nice. If anyone else here feels the way CandyCane seems to, just let her know, and she can rag on me a little more.

And, to answer your question: no, I do not especially care for Huey Lewis' music, but he is not the only person I do not care for.

Having only taken a cursory glance at this thread, all I can say is that - whether you like his music or not - a couple posters here had better put on Huey Lewis & The News' "The Power of Love," give it a nice, hard listen, and start practicing what it preaches!

But, more importantly, I think turtlegirl needs to post the large version of her avatar so we can all get a closer look at Mr. Chris' bicep.

Chris, keep pumping that iron and showing off those boxer arms of yours!!!!

I'm thinkin' the album will be done before their next gig for 2007.

Hopefully, they'll play something new and get the wrestler a new suit?

I think we should start a thread called: "Guess Chris's Age"
I know, it's a lot like "Guess That Chord", it's a new reason to post pictures of Chris.

I'm thinkin' he's around 35 in the above picture. He's showin' what a good model he is. I can imagine what a photo shoot with him would be like...

Me: Ok, Chris, we're going to have you change shirts AGAIN...I know...but the lighting ain't quite right.

Chris: Do I have to wear a shirt?

Me: No, you don't! I've got some lotion in my bag...it gives the hair and skin such a healthy glow! *rubs Chris's arms, chest, etc.*

Chris: He he he...that tickles. Are you sure this is ok? I don't need something to cover my nipples?

Me: Nah, this isn't for Teen Beat.

CI used to be on Sunset radio between 2-4 pm pt. They used to play some of his rare ones and live performances. It hasn't been on for a couple months now (or more). Maybe they moved it to another time, but I can't find it. sad.gif mad.gif

Thanks for that info!

There's still a photo of him on that webpage so I was going a little nuts trying to find anything...guess there is nothing archived.

Maybe you guys should REALLY, REALLY try harder at getting a ticket this year?

Maybe...we're in for new songs?

Or, this could just be a teaser.
