Does anyone know what they mean, represent, or symbolize? He draws them often, so I was wondering. Has anyone ever asked him?

Lilo, I've never asked him about the dragons but I can tell you that they look very much like the dragons on the t-shirts in San Fran's Chinatown. We know Chris likes all things Asian and frequents Chinatown so maybe that explains his predilection for dragons.
Claire
I remember that he said he learned drawing tatoos in Guam, Philippines during his military service.
Maybe this has to do with the dragons..

Thanks, Fifi and Claire. I'll have to ask him next time. smile.gif

Did I miss something? blink.gif When did Chris serve in the military? I've never read or heard him say that.

Chris was never in the military or stationed in Guam or the Philippines. He's naturally artisitic and probably picked up the Asian influenced designs when he was going to school in Japan. He did take several art classes in college.

I thought I had missed something, too. huh.gif In everything I've read/heard, I've never heard about military service before. I know he went over and played for the troops during recent years, but that's all I've heard military related.

didn't he say something about "my breath got me out of the Army. The guy said "Chris, there just ain't enough certs!"

Claire
Maybe this was a joke, but that's exactly what he said during an interview for a french show called 'Rock Press Club' in 2002. He was drawing all those tatoos on the arms of the girl that was interviewing him and when she asked "where did you learn to draw like this?" he said he worked in a tattoo shop in Guam for a while, she asked "you did your army there' he said 'yeah, i draw tattoos on a lot of soldiers'.

And he was talking so seriously i figured it was true, it's not so hard to imagine after all .. after boxing in Japan, working in a tatoo shop in Guam smile.gif

I'm sorry that i can only post a couple of screen captures, so you'll just have to believe me (or not) on this wink.gif

Thanks, Claire. It sounds like he was joking in his "serious" way, like he does so often. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether or not he's being for real or just pulling your leg. Cool screen captures! Thanks. smile.gif

Claire,

Very interesting........strange......but interesting. It's all news to me. Thanks for the screen caps. Perhaps Chris is a closet tattoo artist? This rock and roll thing is just something he has to do to make money. He really wants to be drawing tattoos on soldiers. laugh.gif

What the f?!! Sharpies aren't meant to be used on skin...is there some way to remove it off the skin? It'd probably come off if you spray it with WD40 or Goo Gone....but that is not for skin either.....someone get CI's mother on the phone......we know she raised him to know better!

Surely Bai Ling did not let him draw that big dragon snake thing across the entire front of her body using a sharpie........(she appeared on Leno showing it off years ago)........

You can remove sharpie from the skin with just soap and water...and some good ol' scrubbing. No prob.
