Let me just say that I'm a fan because Chris is a very talented musician
and song writer and has such an amazing voice. I also love his great sense
of fashion, he's quirky sense of humour and let's not forget those piercing blue
eyes. He is kind and selfless and extremely down to earth. What more can I
say, Chris totally Rocks.

This is what I told Chris the last time I saw him and it pretty much sums it up....

Your music is wonderful to share with others you love. I share it with guys I date and it seems to speak to our relationship and when I break up with someone, sad.gif the music is my companion and gets me through the tough spots.

Sappy, but true. For me...his music is therapy for the heart. smile.gif

Awwww Angie!

That is beautiful honey! smile.gif

You should use that as your signature. (Chris Isaak - therapy for the heart!)

I'm a fan because I think he is SEXY! I love his voice! His music has so much to offer the listener. Again, 'Cuz he's so sexy!!
Isaakette
His music first captured my attention, what a genius he is in that realm. Then I saw his face and thought wow... (add youre own thoughts as a red blooded female...}His brilliant humor elevates your mood, no matter where you're at. His graciousness to show his appreciation for fans at the end of each show, priceless. How he selflessly extends himself to entertain our troops by traveling to some of the worlds hotspots without hesitation for his own safety, endearing. No matter what the man does, he makes you feel good to your very core. He is the whole package. How anyone cannot be a fan is beyond me.
ChrisIsFine
Point very well said, Isaakette. I have a friend who does not Chris Isaak's music and she is totally into Kenny Chesney's music instead. She just doesn't know what she's missing. I definetly don't like Kenny Chesney's music.

You're welcome SillieWillie. That's a great story you shared with me. That certainly is a funny story. The frend that I told you that is totally into Kenny Chesney's music, she also likes Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Conway Twitty. She also likes Toby Keith. By the way, that's neat that you don't live too far from Roy Orbison's house there in Hendersonville, TN. How far exactly is Hendersonville from Nashville? Just wondering.

Hi DEANNA, it is nice to hear from you ...it is 14-15 miles is all...., I have a friend from Oregon, Diana is coming in June ,and she is wanting to go by Johnny CAsh's House that BARRY GIBB-BEE GEES BAND,he bought Johnny's House and will be living here all summer to write music. and is having it re done -work done to it....and BARRY came for the Tornado benefit MAy1st this month.in Hendersonville High School...The Benefit raised some 70,000 for the Tornado Victims...He Looked great and he will be 60 this Sept !st..I have met many, many country Singers, and I find they are just like us..some are nicer than others..but the 1 who I Love MOST to MEET IS CHRIS ..of course...it seems the 1 that is BEST 1 to ME, the time I hope comes SOON! have you been Lucky to meet CHRIS?..do you know anybody who has gotten to Meet him and have PIC taken with him?...NOW, THAT BE THE COOLEST!!!Thanks...SillieWillie
ChrisIsFine
SillieWillie, that's pretty cool that Barry Gibb had bought Johnny Cash's house and is having some much needed remodeling done to it. That's great that the Tornado benefit had raised that much money for the tornado victims. I have listened to some of the Bee Gees songs ever since "Saturday Night Fever" came out. I only had Chris sign my concert tshirt and "Always Got Tonight" cd cover insert at the Nashville concert last August. As far as if I got my photo taken with him or not, I never got to since there were like 200 people in line behind me and there weren't photos allowed to be taken with him. I guess every venue is different with rules.

When I met Chris, it was the same situation, they were saying no pictures because there were too many people in line. I asked Chris himself and he said "sure, we just have to be quick"! The only problem was, I"d just gotten my new digital and forgot to tell him it flashed twice. He moved after the first flash and the picture consists of me and half of Chris's head! mad.gif tongue.gif

Sorry to hear that, AngieKay. Hopefully next time you get to meet Chris at a Meet-and-Greet after the concert, you will be able to get your photo taken with him without any digital camera mishaps.

It's kind of funny, because I didn't care for CI when I first heard Wicked Game and saw the video. I thought he was good looking, but when I heard an interview with him and he's saying how there was all this chemistry and animal vibe between him and Helena, I thought "Who does this guy think he is? Especially considering that he isn't dating her or anything?" He was probably joking, but at the time I thought he was pretty full of himself. Now I know better!

Nothing I can add that hasn't been said, fantastic singer/vocalist, gracious, funny, entertaining, good looking (even with the broken nose). As silliewille said, no one can measure up. It's bad but every time I date a guy, in the back of my mind I think - je's not as cute as CI and I bet he can't sing like him either. lol!

I like Chris because he helped me find happiness! I met a girl 16 years ago in Australia while we were back
packing, and all I had for entertainment was my walkman with one cassette, and that was Wicked Game etc.
Needless to say for weeks while travelling and falling in love and listening to the the voice of Isaak.........
We have been together and happily married ever since wub.gif

Then............about 5 years ago in Vancouver, we were near a kayaking store looking at some Kayaks when this guy started to talk to us about kayaking and surfing, would you believe it was Chris, sadly I never let on that I knew who he was, that would be rude I thought, but damnit I wish I could have told him this very story sad.gif

Thanks Chris cool.gif

Well, back in 1985 there was a UHF video channel in New York City called U68 -- they played the "Gone Ridin" video, and I, a young lad of 14, said "Now what the hell is that!?!" So I was a relatively early convert, although I didn't see the guys live until after Wilsey left the band, which is a shame...but basically, I liked that video and everything since, so I don't have any analytical answer other than Isaak rocks!

By all rights, I probably shouldn't be a fan. When I first conciously heard Chris Isaak, it was when the Heart-Shaped World album came out, and you couldn't go 2 minutes without hearing Wicked Game. I absolutely HATED the song. smile.gif I had a friend who was HUGE into CI, and she would constantly try to get me to listen to him, saying, "If you like rockabilly, you would love his earlier stuff", and I flat out wouldn't.

Then, a few years ago, a friend of mine made me a mixed CD, that had Chris doing a cover of Hank Williams' "I'm so Lonesome I Could Cry", and I was very...moved by it. All of a sudden, by some strange coincidence, I found that Chris was popping up everywhere....I saw the video for Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing, and thought that the song was great....while watching my VHS copy of Lynch's Wild At Heart, I didn't press stop at the end of the movie, and all of a sudden there was Chris in the Lynch directed video for Wicked Game. I then stumbled upon the CI show, and that was pretty much it. Over the next couple of months, i bought the CDs, and became a fan.

The funny thing is, that girl who originally tried to get me into Chris....I hadn't seen her in years, and ran into her one night. We went for a drink, and I told her that i had to be back by 11 to catch the CI show. She looked at me and said, "Chris Isaak? People still listen to that guy?"

ChrisIsFine

I bought the DVD, and didn't want to let my VHS copy go because of that video at the end. Then i heard that the Best Of DVD would have two versions...was crossing my fingers for the Lynch version....D'oh!

New member but LONG time fan. Chris has been sort of like the soundtrack to my wife and my life for a long time now. He's the perfect accompaniment to sitting out on a warm summer night on the front porch with candles and a bottle of red wine (or two) his songs are fun, inspirational and on the other hand down right sad, both of which we can all relate to. His voice is fantastic and although Im no where near his talent, I love to sing along (no way can I reach those high notes like him..how does he get up there in "Two Hearts"?) After seeing him in interviews and on his TV show, his personality and great sense of humour made him even more likeable. Just seems like a great guy with no inflated ego. His bandmates truly appear to be his good buddies. Just an all around good dude with amazing talent. Well Ive gone beyond keeping this "in a nutshell" but thats where its at.

how hot is Chris Isaak - i've only been a fan for a few years but once he has you hooked there is no turning back. they say that Chris has some of the most suppotive fans in the business and now I know why - he is so talented and extremely charming - I hope I get the change to meet him one day - maybe this tour.

Great topic! I first discovered Chris around the time 'Wicked Game' came out (1991-ish??). I was living in a flat/apartment just outside of the Melbourne CBD and it needed refurnishing - badly, but I decided to just paint some old furniture one night instead (rather than buy new stuff - yes, I went the Chris Isaak School of Frugal Spenders) wink.gif Anyway, the TV got turned off for the evening, and I switched the radio on instead. Until this point, I think I'd seen the Wicked Game video already, and I'd heard the song played on the radio a few times, but I didn't know anything about the man himself. So there I was, painting furniture and listening to the DJ babble on about this special interview he was going to play, blah blah...and it turned out to be a phone interview with Chris.

I thought at first, oh yeah, big deal, it's that pretty young guy from the sexy video (I thought he was much younger than he actually was at the time). As I listened to the interview though, he was just SO funny and very down to earth. The DJ who interviewed him was known for being quite risque - and he often offended the guests he interviewed. But he and Chris got along just fine, and the whole thing kind of sounded like a couple of naughty school boys interacting with each other, lol. (I think there was a lot of discussion about the WG video - and about Helena ;-) Anyway, that got my interest, but not enough to go out and buy his record, that didn't happen until 'Forever Blue' came along. But after hearing 'Somebody's Crying' at least I knew who he was by then, and remembered that interview that had me in stitches that night - and I've been hooked ever since. smile.gif

Hello, I have just read why you all like CI and its great, I love this board!! Not that I get to go on it very often mind you I have a toddler (who likes Chris Isaak too).

Anyway now for my story - I first heard Chris Isaak in my friends car (Miss Sugz you know Brownie!!), I was 18 and Wicked Game must've just come out in Australia and he would just play it over and over again each time we all went out and every time we went to his place, Chris Isaak was playing. Now you would think being a former rockabillly chick that I would've liked him, but it wasnt until I heard Blue Hotel that I became a fan, I dont know why, but I loved that song. And then when Forever Blue CD was released and I went and saw him in concert at the Sydney Entertainment Centre and met him afterwards and he told me I had beautiful eyes - I FELL IN LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRVE. wub.gif

But seriously, the man's voice is pure, he puts on a fantastic show, I love his humour and his outfits are so kitchy they crack me up.

His music and sense of humor has made me laugh through some pretty tough times. I identify with him alot cuz I live in the Stockton area. And I have always appreciated that he still talks about being from here, even though he doesn't live here anymore. I love that he is so grounded.... And I am also a fan because I just like to LOOK at Chris and listen to him!!!!

I immediately became a CI fan the first time I heard Wicked Game. I thought he had one of the most hauntingly beautiful voices I'd ever heard, and when I saw him, I noticed that his eyes were piercing blue and had a kind expression like my grandfather's. I grew up with my grandfather; he was really more my dad, actually. CI's music carried me through a lot of happy times and quite a few rough times; none rougher, though, than when my grandfather suddenly died in 1997. I wore out all my CI, Beatles, and Paul McCartney CDs really quickly. (I have replacements now.) I've had a lot of unfortunate events come my way (athletic-ending injuries, 11 surgeries, etc.) but losing my grandfather--my hero--was the most difficult thing with which I've ever dealt. Forever Blue got a LOT of air time in my house. My grandfather meant everything to me and I still miss him every day of my life. I sat front row center at the Stockton show a few weeks ago, and seeing those blue eyes in person, paired with that voice was an absolutely amazing experience. I spoke with him for a while (after everyone left so as to not be an a-hole and hold up the line), and I can't even express how looking into his eyes felt. It was like my grandfather was back, if only for a few minutes. And right as I turned to leave he winked at me; something my grandfather did a lot. I hope to attend another CI concert sometime. Well, goodnight, fellow fans. It's late and I should try to sleep.

Oh..what a lovely, sad story! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I lost someone very close to me quite recently too, and it was the same week that I first heard 'King Without a Castle'. So, now this song is kind of embedded in my head with the person I lost, and every time I hear it, it's a kind of a bitter-sweet feeling for me. I still can't listen to this song without tearing-up. Isaak obviously meant it to be a love song, but this song means much more than that to me now. It's one of those things I suppose I should tell him at the 'Meet'n'Greet' thing, but I doubt if I could - at least not coherently in the very short window of time we get - it's a very emotional thing, you know? Anyway, I enjoyed your story, and I'm so glad you got that wink!! smile.gif
ChrisIsFine
Talon12CT, sorry to hear that your grandfather passed away. sad.gif Glad that Chris's music helped you through good times and bad times. Good to hear that you had fun at the Stockton show and Chris gave you a wink. Hope you get to attend another CI concert soon.

Talon12CT
Thanks, Cheryl and Deanna. I'm sorry to hear of your loss, too, Cheryl. It's been close to 10 years now for me, but everyone is different. I've heard that some people grieve for many, many years after a love one has passed. I guess that's how I am. It's a stark contrast to my husband who is the "dark humor" type. I truly wish I could've met my father-in-law, and while I find my husband's jokes to be somewhat morbid and appalling, the "humor" seems to work for him. He just knows not to apply it to the people I've lost. Let's move on to happier subjects, shall we?

I hope I get to see another concert, too! I had no idea CI's performances were so audience-interactive and entertaining. The best concert I ever attended was one of Paul McCartney's. I've seen lots of people perform, but I didn't think anyone would ever tie him. That Stockton show tied Sir Paul's. It's just apples and oranges . . . one isn't better than the other. (Although I know a lot of people here would disagree!) tongue.gif

I guess overall my reasons for being a fan are the same as many others' here: Chris Isaak is extremely intelligent, he has remained grounded and more than appreciative to his fans, and he has stayed steadfast in his principles and personal endeavors. And it certainly doesn't hurt that he has a quick wit, hair to die for, entrancing eyes, and a beautiful voice! Now I don't go around staring at mens' butts, but when there's one dressed in turquoise blue (my favorite color) right in front of me bending over repeatedly and running past me at breakneck speed all evening and my husband isn't there . . . yeah, I'm gonna notice that. Now THAT is a Wicked Game indeed! rolleyes.gif
