big fan of chris isaak, but i gotta say that i hated the wicked game video. the girl was just so young, barely legal and he was totally mauling her, it was uncomfortable. could they not put clothes on her? a little mystery goes a long way. i was disturbed and disappointed.

A quick search reveals the model, Helena Christensen, was approximately 22-23 when the video was shot in 1991 based on her December 25, 1968 birthdate. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the "Wicked Game" video. Personally speaking, that particular video is one of my favorites. Helena Christensen is absolutely GORGEOUS; I always love watching beautiful people, both male and female!!

On the other hand, I DO like your suggestion about Chris picking a woman closer to his age for the next video. There are many of us more mature women here who would get in line for THAT chance of a lifetime.

Wow, I've never known anyone who didn't absolutely love
Wicked Game but I guess your right. Helena was pretty
young, she was just starting out and from what I hear, Chris
did everything in his power to look after her and make her
feel comfortable.

I don't think she had any problems romping around the sand
with Chris Isaak though. All in a days work really?

Obviously, anyone can have an opinion about a video. The whole age thing never even occured to me though. I assumed they were the same/similar age. Chris looks very young in the video IMHO.

I think you're coming on a little strong there. If they did it today, i.e. put the 50 yr old Chris in with a young twentysomething chick - fair enough, but he was much younger himself back then (as someone else has pointed out) and I think physically they were an excellent match up. Also, I think I said somewhere else on this forum, that the very first time I saw this video I thought he was only early 20's himself so he certainly didn't look too old for her I think it's waaaay more tacky to stick a sixty or seventysomething male, (think Sean Connery/Catherine Zeta Jones in 'Entrapment') with a chick young enough to be his granddaughter - and call that art, lol.

p.s. - not long after that video, Helena paired up with Michael Hutchence in real life, and he was almost 10 years her senior.

The age thing never occured to me either (obviously, since I am used to dating men young enough to be my sons). I was joking when making the comment about Chris picking a woman closer to his age for the next video. It was my way of leading to the punchline about us mature women lining up to star in them. That was my lame attempt at a joke for the day.

When I saw the video (over and over again) I never thought about the age difference. I think Chris and Helena both look young. Although, I really think that the way Chris looks today... he could still pull off that video and make me watch it over and over again!!!!

AH , I got the joke AMF As for the other post, yeah I hate Chris' hold on good looks. HOLY COW, I hope I look as good as him in 20 years. Maybe I should take up surfing. Speaking of videos OT: .....huh we never got one for the Best of discs new tracks. Then again, videos are so 80's and 90s. MTV/VH1 barely played his other videos when they actually played music so I guess it would have been a waste of money.

I also thought that Chris and Helena were about close to the same age when I first saw the "Wicked Game" video on VH-1 back in 1991. Chris did a great job at getting the video put together.

THE 'WICKED' VIDEO IS REGARDED BY THE MASSES AS HIGH END ART BECAUSE OF THE DIRECTOR BEING A RESPECTED PHOTOGRAPHER WHO HAD JUST FINISHED A FAB VIDEO FOR MADONNA (SIMILAR IN TONE AND TEXTURE) AND BECAUSE HELENA AND ISAAK WERE COMING TO THE TABLE WITH HEAVY REPRESENTATION AND WERE NOT YOUR AVERAGE 'HUNGRY' KIDS.

THAT ALL BEING UNDERSTOOD, IS IT STILL O.K. TO FILM TWO PEOPLE ON A BEACH 'MAKING BELIEVE' LIKE THEY'RE ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED? IT WORKED FOR MAJOR MOTION PICTURES LIKE 'FROM HERE TO ETERNITY'. AT THAT TIME, WOMEN WEREN'T ALLOWED TO BE TOPLESS ON T.V. I must admit, Karaoke, I couldn't tell much difference between the original, and the 'euro' version myself. I watched each of them twice too - just so I could figure it out. The only thing I think was a little different was that at one point, they were up against that tree for a little longer, but otherwise...BIG DEAL. lol. Oh, and speaking of censored vs. uncensored videos - I wish to hell they'd left the 'Solitary Man' one intact. You know, how they cut the first few seconds from it (where you see Chris's hands explore some interesting parts of his anatomy under the covers ?? Now, why couldn't they have had two versions of that?! And, just called the 'naughty' one the 'Euro' version?? Or maybe the 'Russian' version...or the 'Mexican' version...or the 'Outer Mongolian' version....just anything they wanted, as long as they left it alone on there.

While I wouldn't worry too much about Helena Christensen being manipulated in that video (she was already a famous model), hopefully you'll never catch any of the other Isaak videos -- generally the women are oh, ten, twenty years younger than he is...in fact he gets older but the girls never do!

But "Wicked Game" is pretty much the video that made Isaak more than just a minor cult artiste, so my question is: you only just saw it recently? Or this has been eating at your gut for fifteen years?

As for the "European cut," I think that simply just says more about American broadcasting standards/censorship, where you can show a hundred guys killed with machine guns in a minute, but they have to snip 2 seconds out of a video because a little too much boobie was shown. The "Euro" tag is only there cuz American stations wouldn't run it, while European ones would...
