Full Version: Chris will be on KFOG at 5 pm today
Chris Isaak Boards > Chris Isaak Info > Chris Isaak
Munchie17
It will be streaming and starts at 5pm CA time, approx 45 minutes from now. KFOG San Francisco

Thank you to a friend for the heads up! I did finally get an email from Kfog too. Not much notice huh? Hopefully Chris will mention the new show and CD's.

Thanks, Munchie!

Update: I got the streaming to work just in time. (mad.gif)

For those of you who missed it, here's the synopsis:

Chris and Kenney were on. They sang Wicked Game, Don't Leave Me On My Own, Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing.

Glen Campbell is the first guest on the Chris Isaak Hour. He has a new album of covers and does some on the show with his band and Silvertone together. (I knew about the album already -- sounds intriguing -- Glen sings Green Day (Good Riddance/Time of Your Life) and Foo Fighters (Times Like These) among others (even the Velvet Underground! blink.gif)

Thanks so much Munchie, for the heads up. I was able to catch it. The bit about James Brown was so funny. laugh.gif They sounded great. Wish I could teleport myself to S.F. for a show.

FifiKitty
Oh yeah, Lilo. Forgot that part of the synopsis. Chris met James Brown at Bimbo's. Big encounter. James grunted some sort of greeting at Chris. That was the extent of the meeting. laugh.gif

And not to be forgotten, Chris and Silvertone are playing the Fillmore Wed., Thurs., Fri., Sat. nights. There will no longer be a "wall of flame". (do not ask me what this means -- some San Fran person will have to fill you in)

Munchie17, thanks for posting the link to save Chris's KFOG interview that he had earlier this evening. I am saving it & I will listen to it. I did miss the broadcast of it on KFOG when it was on.

His voice is so good on Wicked Game ...even with bad acoustics in that studio. Blessed with those amazing pipes and range. Interesting interview ... light and earthy.

I also must hear "the voice". In fact, I downloaded your clip and I'm listening to "the voice" for a second time. Thanks. Much appreciated.

Hearing the interview again makes me want to eat Froot Loops. blink.gif

And what was with Kenney shopping for old toilet seats at the Murphys hardware store? laugh.gif
Cheryl's CRAZY-4-CHRIS
"What were you looking for Kenney? A 'screw'?" LMAO!! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
FifiKitty
Yeah -- that's EXACTLY what I was laughing at!

Back on track, wasn't Chris' guitar playing awesome on the songs they sang?

The imitations of Glen Campbell and the Aussies cracked me up.

Back to Glen Campbell -- so, Silvertone played with his band on the Chris Isaak Hour. Double of everything except the banjo. But I thought Scotty played a C3 not a B3?

and in episode no. 3/Season 1....he did a great Australian imitation when he was doing the voice of his girlfriend's dog he was looking after.

KFOG Interview 10-7-08

Munchie, thanks so much for the info and link. What would we do without all that you provide for us? I just got back from vacation without any Internet access (not entirely a bad thing, though, I must confess), and I missed all this great stuff, so I really enjoyed listening to that fun interview with Chris & Kenney. I'm so happy Glen Campbell is a guest for the first show of "The Hour". Back in the Dark Ages, when I was growing up listening to my Dad's music in the early-mid 60's, I was captivated by this clear red vinyl album he had called simply "12 String Guitar!" by The Folkswingers. It was really neat to look at, I think that's why I liked playing it, but it got me hooked on 12 string acoustic guitar music, which to this day, I'm still nuts about and adore. My father's record became lost and forgotten in all of his old LPs, but lo and behold, some 40+ years later, my Dad unearthed it, and at 83 transferred it to CD for me, since it's never been available in that format, and it's probably only availabe on Ebay. In any event, I had never known all those years ago, that the featured soloist on the 12 string is Glen Campbell! He is so talented, and for Chris to showcase him on his new show is awesome. I hope in the jamming segment they play some great 12 string and banjo including a couple of my alltime favorites! Thanks Chris for a super choice! I can't wait to see the new show and all of the other guests as well.

I also loved Chris' Aussie accent imitation. I've read Chris does tons of impersonations, and from the handful I've heard, they're all incredible. Wish he'd do more, hint, hint rolleyes.gif .

Btw, if anybody's interested, here's a link that cites the songs on the Folkswingers' album, http://www.hairbybruno.at/folk.htm. Also, there was a volume 2, but my father never had that one.

ChrisIsFine
I finally was able to hear the KFOG interview just now that Chris did last week before the Fillmore concerts. It was a good interview. Thanks for posting the link for it, Munchie17.

Silversands,

Very interesting info about Glen Campbell. Thank you. "The Folkswingers." I love the name. It sounds like something out of "A Mighty Wind". laugh.gif

Seriously.....it's really nice to have you post your musical knowledge here. I know I learn a lot from you. biggrin.gif

Wow, thanks so much for the compliment, Fifikitty, how sweet of you to say that. However, I am pretty sure your musical knowledge and ability far exceeds mine. I will say this, I wouldn't know or like who or what I do, if it hadn't been for my father's and older brother's and sister's music I listened to at such a very young age and became the backdrop for my influences and tastes. I'm very thankful for that-plus, just growing up in the 60's.

Yea, "The Folkswingers" does sound a little "Mighty Windish". Another record of my Dad's you might like and can get on CD, which is the same vintage and sound, is by the folk group, "The Rooftop Singers". I always loved "Walk Right In" that they did-it's also done without the lyrics by "The Folkswingers".

KFOG Interview 10-7-08

Thanks Kathy!! I really enjoyed that. My dog was freakin' out over some squirrel in the yard during that...so I have one question. Did Chris say that "The Chris Isaak Hour" would be on sometime around Christmas? I heard him say the new CD would be out before Christmas and I'm very excited about that. Also...I liked that comment he made about his ex saying "The Chris Isaak Hour" wasn't possible. hee! I, too, loved his aussie accent but I have trouble telling the aussie accent from the english accent.

Yes....in the interview...he stated that he believes it could air just before Christmas, since they are already taping the shows now.
