Posted this in the wrong thread- cross posted... from the Rove site...

Chris Isaak
We love Chris Isaak, which is brilliant news and not in the slightest bit awkward, because as it turns out, it’s totally reciprocated.

Topping the list of things Chris loves about Australia are that he thinks we’re funny and friendly. Doesn’t mention ‘good-looking’ but I’m sure he’s just being shy. Suffice to say, we are well-chuffed that honorary Aussie Chris Isaak chose our brown land in which to make his first ever live album, called, wait for it, Live in Australia.

Recorded during his last tour in 2006, the new album showcases the smoothness we expect from Chris and his band Silvertone, but with the added bonus of actually feeling part of the action. Like the man himself, Live in Australia is an effortless brand of stylish retro-cool. Watch Rove swoon like any red-blooded human, as he catches up with Chris Isaak live in the studio this week.

Live in Australia is out now, and the Chris Isaak Christmas DVD will be released on 15th November.

Visit the Chris Isaak website at http://chrisisaak.com/

Sorry Junebug can't be of any help on the live streaming. I only watch the show when Mr I graces our shores, so don't know much about it.
Check here:

and you'll catch it.

well Chris was on Rove with Kenney bless him! He was wearing a grey suit and an almost tie die looking tie. He seemed relaxed and witty as usual. My fav bit was talking about a horse race named after him- The Chris Isaak Handicap. THe rug to go on the winning horse has a pic of him on it which is interestingly positioned on the horse's hind quarter. He also mentioned that he would kiss any woman... all up he was on air for about 11mins, that's including crossig over to him betwen acts etc. Stay tuned for him as a guest judge and mentor on Australian Idol next sunday. Wonder what he will wear to the races...

*Waves to both Miss Sugz & Miss W.A.* (otherwise known as Stacey. laugh.gif ) Well I'm with you Stace....I say if something still works, why chuck it out?? I've got stuff around from years ago that I still use. And I probably won't need to invest in a DVD recorder until around 2015 (or thereabouts!).

I'm sorry, I don't have time to check out those videos posted on Youtube from Rove, but in case anyone wonders (and it hasn't already been mentioned) the ice cream skit (where you see Kenney pass on a tub of gelati to Chris, he opens it up and goes, "Ooh, chocolate" or something similar) is in reference to a recent thing in the news where a family had lunch in a restaurant in Coogee (I think it was....) and when they complained to the chef about something, they were offered a free desert of chocolate gelati, which turned out to be frozen poo. huh.gif (The chef's revenge!?!)

Katina (and anybody else who wants to know how to do this) if you ever see a slideshow and want to copy pix from it, here's what you do:

(1) wait until the 'right' picture appears...
(2) hit the 'print screen' key on your keyboard STRAIGHT AWAY, before the slideshow has time to move on...
(hitting 'print screen' has taken a snapshot of the entire webpage, and put it on the Windows clipboard, so...)
(4) open up Microsoft Paint (sorry if you're a Mac and not a Windows person, in that case I dunno how Mac's work, so I'm afraid you're screwed as far as I'm concerned, lol) o.k....with MS Paint on the screen, go to Edit>Paste and voila, a copy of the entire webpage complete with desired pic. should appear in your MS Paint window. Next step is to crop...
(5) to crop, go to the Select tool (white broken, square thingy on right-hand top corner of the toolbox) drag the crop line around exactly what you want to keep, then go to edit>cut
(6) close down MS Paint....and open up a new MS Paint session right away.
(7) when it opens up, just 'paste' again........and voila.......DON'T FORGET TO SAVE!! laugh.gif

It was gross. Too gross and in poor taste. Also Kenney uses fowl language on stage
a lot , shows his anger, and increasingly is rude to CI on air and in public. If he's not
always happy with his job and feels underpaid he should stop to consider how lucky he
is and show some respect or get a better gig which is highly unlikely. Yes, posters here
will attack me for saying anything about the mighty drum machine but I think it's high

It was a JOKE, and as gross as the actual news item was, most Aussies are still chuckling about it. laugh.gif

As for Kenney, he was playing the second banana as usual: they both play off each other. In all my years of being a fan, I've NEVER seen him use foul language, or show his anger on stage and he is always the first to tell you what a charmed life he is living and how lucky he is. tongue.gif

Not attacking you; you are entitled to your opinion, but in this case I think you're way off. rolleyes.gif

Well yeah, of course it was gross and in poor taste - that's why it was good fodder for a comedy sketch, lol. I suspect it's one of those things where it's pretty damn funny when it happens to somebody else, but not when it happens to you..... It's all part of the catharsis thing (you'll have to look up Aristotle for a more lengthy explanation on that one, lol). I think you were a little (well, a LOT) harsh on poor old Kenney. Remember, these shows are scripted. These guys are all entertainers - it was just being part of the 'second banana' act as jac pointed out. And, IMHO, Kenney is one cool (2nd) banana. Don't diss the big fella for just doing his job.... I have NEVER seen Kenney being rude to anyone, or show any disrespect - let alone be rude to the boss-man, Chris. From what I've seen of him over the years, Kenney always acts with the utmost professionalism. I doubt also if he's underpaid, but at the end of the day whatever he earns is his business. If the stage banter bothers you, just try and tune it out and focus on the music instead and the fact that these guys are amongst the best musos around. That is, after all, what we appreciate about them the most, isn't it?

(Oh, and btw, if Kenney did use 'fowl' language onstage he'd be clucking like a chicken.) wink.gif

Anyway, I must dash now too - going out to a church fete today (well, my invite to the Birdcage must have got lost in the mail so I've got to go out and do something today! (I know, I live the high life.) laugh.gif

Have my brother/sister-in-law coming to stay next week. She doesn't eat any kind of fish (allergic to shellfish and just doesn't like the rest). She also doesn't touch milk, butter, cheese or eggs. Can't bear margarine and won't look at anything soy! It's hard to come up with much in the way of desserts, I tell you! It's basically fruit salad or cooked apples or something.

I could give up meat, but I do love prawns. Have them twice a year whether I can afford them or not laugh.gif However, I would be miserable if I couldn't have my cheese, eggs, butter and milk.

Cheryl, don't get the special fried rice, just get the regular. Most places only put prawns in the special! Our local does a vegetarian fried rice too and it's nice.

Yes, Chris and Kenney have that routine down, they're like an old married couple. Junebug, it really was a joke Joyce, no-one was getting stuck in, offended or upset. It was just to show they'd done their homework on recent local trivia, that's all!

I only watched the bits that were already up on YouTube when I got up. They reminded once again why I don't watch Rove. The whole thing made me cringe. Not that he cares, I know, I know, and yes he IS a nice bloke but that's not enough and his sidekicks are awful. Don't know whether I caught Today or not, but it doesn't matter these days, does it?!

Whoa - I can't imagine giving up ALL dairy foods plus eggs either! I think I'd be eating the carpet I'd be so hungry. Well it sounds like you're in for an interesting week. You have my sympathies. laugh.gif I do eat a leeeeeetle fish sometimes. I don't mind those cans of John West flavoured tuna, and there's always fish and chips of course. And strangely enough, I'll even eat calamari - as long as it's in rings with a little tartare. Although, when I was in Greece a few years ago, I ordered a big plate of it (as you do in Greece, after all :-) and was amazed to see it served 'au naturale' - I was expecting the rings, lol. I took one look at those sad, little octopussy corpses still with their tentacles and suckers attached, and pushed the entire plate away. My companion at the time was happy - HE was into seafood and wolfed the whole thing down in about 10 seconds flat, lol. But, prawns, lobsters, any type of sea creature that still actually LOOKS like a sea-creature, fugetaboutit!

I must remember that trick about ordering the plain rice....but I do like the special fried rice because it's also got the bits of scrambled egg in it that I like, and unlike Stacey, I don't mind the peas either. biggrin.gif But the prawns are a no-no. I remember once I even wrapped a lot of left-over prawns up in a serviette one night and gave them to my neighbour's cat when I got home, lol.

Yes, God bless Youtube - while I have a taped a couple of things, by just following other people's links I've watched everything online now, so won't even have to play my tapes back now. Apart from when Chris is on I never watch those early morning shows either. Never have, and never will. The damn television is on for enough hours as it is, without having it on 24/7. biggrin.gif I do like Rove too, I find him very likable, but I don't watch his show regularly either. Some of those regulars he has on ARE pretty ordinary....you're absolutely on the money with that! That Dave Hughes for instance....I find him reeeaaaaally irritating. Won't listen to him on the radiio, either. That voice of his....I'd rather listen to fingers scraped down a blackboard. laugh.gif

Well, Rove just isn't my cuppa. The show, that is. I don't like the American shows it's ripped off from either. I admire Rove, the man. You can read about him here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rove_McManus

I don't watch TV at all, so I'm not a good judge ... only ever make an effort to catch any of these shows when Chris and Kenney are over here.

They have appeared on Rove many, many times. They really seem to be friends and to be close to him. The always seem to enjoy themselves on the show. Isaak wouldn't keep on appearing on "Rove" if he didn't want to, he's all grown up you know, can make his own choices. The fact that I, personally, don't like it means bugger all, believe me! It's very popular and a great vehicle for Chris when he wants to get some promotion out there.

I've never heard Kenney use foul langauage. I've met him many times and he's always been perfectly lovely smile.gif

You didn't get the poo icecream joke, so don't worry about it. I thought it was funny and well done and I don't know how you've got it into your head that Kenney is disrespectful unsure.gif CI is no choirboy/angel. He and Kenney make a great team, perfect foils for each other. It's a well-worn routine, with a bit of innuendo, but all VERY tame.

(The only thing I DID wonder about was how Kenney managed to get hold of a Coogee Bay icecream tub in Melbourne laugh.gif ) In case your'e wondering why I said that, Coogee is one of the Sydney beaches, and a very lovely one too!

Kenney Rocks and he thinks Rove is hillarious. I'd spoken to him after the last show
with the whole Jennifer Aniston baseball cap thing and he said he was back stage
just cracking up. I think it's about the 4th appearance for Chris and Kenney so
I think they are just fine in those "surrounds" Miss Junebug.

Not sure what you are referring to in regard to KDJ vulgar language though. Do
you have any examples? I've taped a lot of interviews going back to 1996 and
I can't say I agree with you. Maybe I've just missed something. blink.gif

I've only met Chris and Kenney twice after the two concerts I've been too, but have seen and heard countless interviews that the two have given over the years. I've not seen either Chris or Kenney been disrepectful to each other or to hosts and other guests.

Junebug, you have mentioned that you have seen/heard disrepectfulness, can you give examples or point me to any youtube vids etc?

Well, Rove just isn't my cuppa. The show, that is. I don't like the American shows it's ripped off from either. I admire Rove, the man. You can read about him here

Stuff, I don't think it was a real one. It looked like one of those jumbo-sized polystyrene (sp?!) take away coffee cups, with 'Coogee Bay Icecream' written on the side of it with a texta. biggrin.gif

@ Junebug ~ Like the other girls, I'm at a complete loss as to recall a single instance where Kenney has been 'vulgar' too. blink.gif I've met him just the once, but he acted like a perfect gentleman with me. Maybe you just don't get a certain brand of humour?? (Which is fine, we are all entitled to our opinions on what we think is funny, and not funny). However, there's no reason to let it upset you so much. If that kind of comedy isn't your thing, then just ignore it and focus on the things you do like about CI&S. And, FYI what Rove does in general on his show (and that specific comedy skit in itself), would be considered rather on the mild side compared to some other local comedy shows I could name. For instance, there's this little show I can introduce you to called 'The Chaser'..........

Is it just Chris & Kenney doing the promo tour in Australia or is the whole gang there?
