A couple of things in the paper this morning about the tour....there's also a lengthy interview which I'll scan in a sec. as soon as I post this. So, without further ado, here it is.....

(Oh, and btw, I'd never heard of Sutton Grange winery before - and I live on the edge of one of Australia's biggest winery regions, so I know a lot of wineries - so had to look it up....and up....and up....couldn't find it at all, and after having a 'where the bloody hell are you' moment (a la the worst tourism commercial ever made - the Aussies will know what this means, lol) I was rather, er, surprised to see that it's just outside of BENDIGO. ohmy.gif Bendigo is a large, regional town in country Victoria. You stick a pin in the middle of the state of Victoria, and Bendigo is almost smack deadset-center. It's a nice place, and has a lot of great historical stuff (site of the gold-rush boom from the 1850's out here) but it's gonna be waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far to go for me - and for a lot of other people too, I suspect. Still, it'll be a nice little sojourn into the country if you're prepared to shell out the extra $$ for an overnight stay somewhere. The Palais on the other hand, should suit most people a lot more.) Shame he's not doing the Palms again though, I was really hoping for that.
stuff & nonsense
http://www.palaistheatre.net.au/about-us.htm

All tickets for sale through Ticketmaster only. The Palais is no longer selling them, no longer taking bookings, pre-orders, whatever! I was about to employ my usual modus operandi with tickets for the Palais and send them a FAX (got front row for Wilco last year ... still haven't finished that blurb, I might yet laugh.gif )

The end of an era, and I'll bet the parking sucks just now too.

Still better than a winery though!

O.k. here's the interview :~

Part deux :~

Hey Stuff!! Yep, I hear you. I hate it when they change things too. Things always change for the WORSE, not the better. And things are soooooooo freaking expensive now as well. sad.gif I checked out the tickets for John Cougar Mellancamp the other day to get a rough idea (he's playing one of the Day on the Green gigs at Rochford Winery, similar to what Chris did last time) and to get those juicy front-row seats and sit (roughly) in the same place I did 2 years ago, now costs.........dum did dee duuuuuuum.........$495.00!!!!!!! (gasp, faint, gasp, faint...shock, horror, shudder, lol). I think my 3rd row seat up there cost me the princely sum of $140 back then. ALL of that 'a' and 'b' seating section is considered 'VIP' now - la di bloody dah - so that's why it costs a bomb. It could well be the end of an era for me too, because even a Palais ticket may be beyond my reach at the moment, but c'est la vie. (I think my era ran for all of 2 shows in the space of less than a week back in November, '06, but hell, at least it was a memorable era, lol)

oh that's great!!!

Cheryl, thanks for the article, but I can't read it, is there a way to enlarge it, or could you post the link please? Thank you in advance!

EDIT: Duh! Skipped right over that little detail. Thanks Munchie & Cheryl.

Silversands, you should be able to click on the top of the photo and the big picture will come up? That is how it works for me....

Yep, it's just like Kathy says, silversands. Click on the black band at the top of the picture, then click again. If you still have problems reading it, give me a shout and I'll email it to you. smile.gif

And while I'm on the subject, let me enjoy having a good rant, on how I hate - o.k. so 'hate' is too strong a word, lol - how about INTENSELY DISLIKE this new website layout. I dunno why, but it keeps timing you out when you're trying to post, or even edit something. So, it takes a loooooooooot of effort just to post here these days. Grrrrrrrrrr.............(off I go, grrrrrrrrrr-ing and ranting into the distance...........;-)

Well I've done a bit more goog-a-loogaling and, I've just found this on the Andrew McManure website.....

http://www.ampresents.com/?module=events&a...owact&id=61

When I checked there the other day there was nothing at all, so at least this is something.

Now I guess it's just a matter of 'watch this space' I guess.....

I agree this winery is way to far away, unless a whole lot of us want to drive up and stay over night somewhere, even Rochford was closer! Parking- yes at the Palais is a bummer- I thought it burnt down? Maybe they did it up? He is in Adelaide on the 15th, so there ae few days for extra shows here, or maybe Sydney will be threaded into those dates... huh.gif

Cheryl L., thanks for scanning the Herald Sun interview. My favourite line (of course it would be):

"I am like a cat looking in a seafood store"............... laugh.gif laugh.gif

though I doubt he would have referred to the ladies as "frocked-up Aussie women"! LOL.......I hope you American fans know what frocks are. tongue.gif

No worries babe. smile.gif I'm glad you caught the cat/seafood thing....great comment....funny as...lol. But nobody saw my littly fishy joke at the bottom of the pic where I told people not to go out now and get dressed up as prawns. *pout* tongue.gif Hey, if Chris is starting to use words like 'frock' and 'frocked-up' maybe he IS starting to become an honourary Aussie (as Rove said), lol. First it was the Melbourne Cup, then saying 'frock'....next...........he will be totally assimilated and have to start eating......VEGEMITE!! (Resistance is futile!)

Well, if circumstances (i.e. of the financial kind!) were better for me, I'd be interested in driving up together etc., because get this...it wasn't until the dust settled yesterday and I studied the roadmap a bit more, I discovered that Sutton Grange is actually closer to Castlemaine than it is to Bendigo, and a good friend of mine owns a B&B in Maldon....which is just on the other side of (little drum roll here) Castlemaine......if I make big, puppy dog eyes at her I *MIGHT* be able to get use of it for that night....Maldon isn't exactly right next door to where the winery is, but it is entirely do-able for overnight accommodation. But, I really REALLY doubt I'll be able to do it. I dunno how I'm even gonna do the Palais as yet....but will definitley try for that over the Sutton Grange gig......I'm REALLY glad I've got over a week to think about it until the tix go on sale...I have a l lot of thinking to do.....hmmmmm..........

I'm happy to go with someone to the winery... Cheryl, Jac and others?

Would LOVE to S, but I'm afraid it's more wishful thinking on my part......sigh. Oh......I just glanced at the clock and see it's 4.00 on the dot right now huh.gif (Hope the op. went well, and you're feeling better by the time you get to read this!)

Yeah, sorry! I missed the "dressing up as a prawn" comment the first time. I don't think Chris used the term "frocked-up", it was the writer but I'm sure you'll be teaching him his new vocabulary while he's there. Vegemite? Good luck with that. laugh.gif
