Of course, we've all heard that contestants on Idol (at least the US one) are usually in hock to the show (via iron clad contractual agreement, etc)...
BTW...Saw the you tube clips of isaak on Idol and was much impressed by how encouraging he was to the singers. 'nuther talent to add to his ever-growing resume, I think. Isaak really should produce some fledgelings...He'd be really good at it.

PS Noticed more tour dates slated for the beginning of the year. ..

Jakubenko considers Isaak Idol offer by Seanna Cronin
November 18th, 2008
AUSTRALIAN Idol evictee Teale Jakubenko has the option of touring as a backup for Chris Isaak after striking a bond with the rockabilly crooner last week.
After singing for his life five times in the past nine weeks, Jakubenko, pictured left with Isaak, was eliminated from the competition, narrowly missing a spot in the grand final.
The Yatala singer/songwriter now holds the record for the most times an Idol contestant has survived the bottom three.
``All those bottom three appearances prepared me for anything,'' he said.
``It was great to have a broad sort of theme to finish on and I'm glad I got to do my audition song as my farewell song."
Jakubenko was also able to have a laugh at his own expense, staging a bullet-dodging scene from The Matrix for his farewell presentation.
Surviving those five bullets kept Jakubenko in the competition long enough to work with guest judge Isaak, who lavished praise on the singer.
``He said to me, mate if you're ever free or if anything is not happening come on tour with me, and I'm pretty sure he's fair dinkum.
``It's pretty cool when someone of that calibre has faith in you.''
