hi, i live in phoenix and have been an isaak fan forever. as a matter of fact, i play guitar, and know how to play most all ci songs. i mostly play the chris isaak rhythm parts, and can play the entire lead of wicked game. im really dig the old fender tube amp and hummbucker pick-up combo sound if anyone knows what i mean. i 've played each of his songs hundreds of times over i swear. well to the main topic here, does anyone live in the phoenix area thats into chris isaak and wants to start a tribute band? i've put this off for far too long. i suggested my idea to kenny dale johnson after one of the shows they played here in phoenix. he suggested i call the band the blue hotels, pretty clever i thought. well, let me know if anyone is interested.

Sounds like a great idea. I'd be into it if I lived anywhere near Phoenix but sadly....I live in Canada. If I hear of anyone from the Phoenix area that can play an instrument, I'll let you know. Good luck!

I THINK TRIBUTE BANDS ARE KIND OF WEIRD...NOT BECAUSE THEY LIKE A PARTICULAR BAND AND TRY TO IMMULATE THEM...BUT BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY BAND THEY LIKE TO PAY TRIBUTE TO.
CALL ME CRAZY, BUT I LIKE INDIVIDUALITY AND ORIGINALITY.
HOW DOES ONE CREATE ORIGINAL WORKS OF ART?
WELL, WE EACH HAVE A BRAIN THAT IS ABLE TO TAKE IN INFORMATION AND CREATE A KNOWLEDGE BASE. THAT KNOWLEDGE BASE IS COMPRISED OF PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AS WELL AS WHAT OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED (RICH OR POOR). JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS SUCCESSFUL AND WELL-KNOWN DOESN'T AUTOMATICALLY MAKE THEM PART OF YOUR REPETOIRE OF SONGS. CASE IN POINT: CHRIS ISAAK LIKES A LOT OF OBSCURE STUFF.
I LIKE THE EXPERIENCE OUR HERO GAVE WHEN HE DESCRIBED HIS WAY OF LISTENING TO TONS OF 'JUNK' RECORDINGS FROM THE HAY DAYS OF ROCK N ROLL/POP MUSIC. HE WOULD PURCHASE A WHOLE BUNCH OF MUSIC FOR NEXT TO NOTHING AND THEN LISTEN TO EACH SONG. HE WOULD PAY ATTENTION TO THE LABELS ON THE RECORDS (KIND OF LIKE WHEN WOMEN PAY ATTENTION TO GUCCI AND OTHER BRAND NAME CLOTHING) SO HE WOULD KNOW WHICH LABELS PRODUCED THE RECORDING ARTISTS HE LIKED TO LISTEN TO. SO WHEN IT CAME TIME TO DISHING OUT 200 FOR 'THE GREATEST LOST HITS' OF SO-AND-SO THEN HE'D KNOW IT'D BE WORTH IT.
I REMEMBER AN INTERVIEW HE GAVE ABOUT WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO SEE HIS SONG RECORDED BY ELVIS' OLD LABEL. HE SHOWED IT TO HIS DAD. MOST OF US WOULD THINK: "SO WHAT, I CAN DO THAT AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS 'CUT A SONG FOR A DOLLAR'" BUT TO HIM AND HIS DAD IT WAS THE REALIZATION OF A LOT OF HARD WORK...RECREATING A FEEL THEY BOTH PROBABLY FELT WHEN THEY HEARD ELVIS FOR THE FIRST TIME. PERSONALLY, I NEVER THOUGHT CHRIS ISAAK WAS ANYTHING LIKE ELVIS. I THINK HE'S BEEN ABLE TO CAPTURE EVERYTHING ELSE BUT ELVIS. WHICH IS GOOD...BECAUSE ELVIS'/TALENT IS VERY UNIQUE AND REALLY HARD TO IMITATE WITHOUT LOOKING LIKE YOU'RE FROM LOS VEGAS INSTEAD OF MISSISSIPPI. IT'S ONE THING TO IMMITATE AND ANOTHER THING TO IMPERSONATE. DON'T GET THEM MIXED UP.
LOVE FROM THE ONE AND ONLY,
