Read the post from AUS that the Best Of Hits album was in the top 10 in AUS
which is totally awesome. How's it selling so far in the U.S.?

Not as good! mad.gif
He's definitely a bit more of a cult artiste in the U.S. at this point -- The album spent a couple of weeks in the top 100, not sure where it is now, but it's charting a bit lower than another San Francisco group's greatest hits -- Huey Lewis and the News, who I like, but who have only put out one album of new material in the last 11 years! Huey's touring with Chicago, which is certainly giving him a renewed boost -- perhaps our hero should co-headline with someone high-profile to expose him to new fans...

...nah! That'd mean he'd have a shorter set list! Let's keep him our li'l secret! But apparently he's having a hot streak in Australia (good taste!), whereas the album is doing adequately but nothing too special here.

Is the song "King Without A Castle" getting airplay there? It isn't here -- I think he should've tried "I Want You to Want Me" as a single, and I suspect he might agree as it's what he's been playing on most of the talk shows here....

No, alas, the radio stations aren't playing any of his new songs. (But then again, they barely played any of his old songs either.) mad.gif But here's some good news! A couple of weeks ago I posted that the 'Best Of' album had rebounded from slipping down to No. 4 back up to No. 3 again. Last week, it had slipped down to 4 again...but today....ta dum ta dum.....he's back to No. 3 again! smile.gif Man, he must be getting dizzy, bouncing up and down like that all the time. wink.gif

Well, I just purchased mine today. Mainly for the DVD & commentary. Of course the album is wonderful-there was no doubt there-hence the "greatest hits". I have to be honest though. After listening to his version of " I want YOU.." I really craved to hear the real thing after. Trust me, This is one talented amazing musician, so I am not trying to say anything improper, but that was my thought.
You can't expect the radio to play real talent these days anyways. Just the typical BS, plus many very talented musicians have fallen to the way side due to poor promotions from their own producers. Maggie's dream, altered state, Big wreck, of course our man did break through--which I am oh so thankful for..

ooo I guess I went off on a slight tangent..sorry

I've been hearing King without a castle pretty regularly in Denver on a couple different stations. And since he's in Denver, TOMORROW NIGHT, they've been playing more of a variety of his songs too. Bonus biggrin.gif You're right though, I haven't heard Let's Have a Party or IWYTWM, or even the acoustic Forever Blue.

Jeeze, I've just realised something. I don't even know if anything has been released on single down here in Aus. (I'm getting slack in my old age, lol.). I'm pretty much OTL on this kind of thing these days. Usually they release one or two tracks as singles down here (whether they play them on the radio or not...hmmmmm.. dry.gif ) and they usually have unreleased tracks on the 'B' side, making them real little collector's gems. Does anybody from Aus. out there know if anything has been released other than the album/DVD itself??

I just got my new copy of Best of Album...enjoyed it very much. I couldn't keep from humming along with some of his songs! I think some people at the traffic lights probably thought I was a little crazy, but if I made their day, so be it! I love his mellow voice. --or any other voice he uses! rolleyes.gif [font=Tahoma]

I purchased by "Best of" album months ago. I really enjoy it, but I need to purchase another copy. My original copy has been stolen... by my mother! My mom (in her 60's) had never heard of CI when I popped my CD in her car's player one weekend. Well, that was all it took because that disk is now "hers".

She is really surprised that CI&S isn't more popular. She thinks CI is a real talent with the vocals and she can't believe his range, and she thinks Kenney is fantastic on drums. This is quite a compliment from her as I have never heard her compliment a music group unless it was someone from the 40s or 50s. CI&S “Best of” has even bumped her favorite CD that she always listened to, so the “Best of” album will do a bit better in the San Francisco area as I need to repurchase if I want to hear it again. smile.gif

Jenn, glad to hear that your mom is now a fan of CI&S. I do hope you can buy a "Best Of Chris Isaak" cd for yourself again.

Well, I purchased a second copy of the "Best of", but this time I found one that had the DVD. The funny thing is my mother liked that one better than the first one because it includes 'movies'. She just called me here at work to let me know that she felt stressed and had to get a 'Chris fix'... by watching Wicked Game while she ate her lunch. laugh.gif laugh.gif Oh well, nothing I can do... best not leave any more Chris disks laying around anymore or they will all disappear. wink.gif

Jenn, glad you have the "Best Of" DVD now besides the 2nd copy of the CD. Hope you enjoy the DVD.

Did you get the tri-fold cardboard copy? That is the one that Chris signed in Livermore... I took the cd and dvd out and put them in other plastic holders. I think he wondered where the discs were? The cardboard holder would not last past a couple opening and closings. That little collectible cardboard holder is put away forever! rolleyes.gif

Yes, I did get the tri-fold cardboard copy. My mom has claimed that copy as hers now too. I haven't seen the DVD yet, but mom has seen it a few times already. Maybe I will have a chance this weekend to get my 'Chris fix' too. wink.gif

I don't think the DVD has left my machine since I bought the set in May! I LOVE the commentary, he is just so darn funny! Oh......and kinda cute too!

I am absolutely enjoying watching the "Best Of" DVD that Chris put together. All of his music videos in there are great. wink.gif

The commentary for Blue Hotel is really funny, I mean the part about making the video. That they shot the whole video and then they couldn't make copies of it so they had to try and re-do the video second by second once again. Well, I can't explain but you all know what I'm talking about.

Whenever I watch the DVD without commentary, I have to switch to commentary when Blue Hotel is playing, the story is so funny. biggrin.gif
