Hi Mark!

I was thinking of you and some other folks I haven't seen around here for a while.

I agree the new album is awesome!

Funny, I was just thinking about ya this mornin' too -- glad to see one of the other few dudes on the board return...indeed, it's a terrific new record, and even the bonus cuts (the itunes, particularly) are pretty damn good...I actually think the online bonus cuts are much stronger than the 2 on the cd deluxe version...(at this point, I must admit, I think "Dream Deferred" might be my least favorite Isaak song! Yikes!)

But, yeah, I think the general populace is pretty happy with this one!

Aw, it's nice that i'm still thought of once in awhile. smile.gif

I really like the mix of genres. I think We Let Her Down is the weakest cut and I wish it was not the single. Cheater's Town would have been a better single. I'm also the person who does not like Blue Hotel or Wicked Game, so I guess I'm not the best judge of a hit. LOL

My fave cut is Big, Wide, Wonderful World

Oh I'm so excited and cant wait to hear this new album.

Mine has been sent, but hopefully its not snail mail, as it has a long way to travel, and may take 6 weeks if sent at the least postage cost!

I will just have to keep busy and wait smile.gif

See - it takes a new album release to bring us out of the wood work.
I've been so busy that I'll have to wait until Thursday to get my copy
but if you approve Mark - and I love your taste in music - then I can't
wait to hear it for myself.

It arrived this morning just as I was leaving for work!!

The signed photo such a gorgeous shot and I'm number 978/1000, and the 000 are little hearts!

I couldn't wait to get home tonight and settle down on the couch with the lights off and just LISTEN. Its so very very good, worth the long wait for this new album and there is plenty of variety for everyone.

Chris's voice is sounding better than ever, and there is some fine guitar and drum work also.

It's worth every cent of the $70 spent, and it will become a favourite album for sure.

I'm a very happy Kiwi!

Okay so I've just got the album and I'm sitting here listening to it for the second time
as I type this. I'd have to say that the songs which are hitting a chord straight off for
me at the moment are Mr Lonely Man and Very Pretty Girl. Hope he does these ones
at his show. Wonder how long it will be before I've changed my mind and picked
another favourite. Always happens once you listen to the songs and find meaning
behind the lyrics.

Mizz Sugz D, the first time I listened to the new tunes was on Yahoo music in my hotel room in Sydney......As I relaxed and fell asleep......Funny how that happened after Track 14....But lights out, listen and enjoy. wink.gif Did that every night until I could get to JB to get the CD.

My instant fave was 'Very Pretty Girl.' Next was 'Baby Baby'. (That's all I'm sayin') 'Mr Lonely Man' and 'Cheaters Town'.

I am now back in Melbourne and driving around town feeling like I am in a 60's Cocktail Lounge when I hear some tunes! Very chilled in traffic! Hello...... huh.gif Must be the backing music, lyrics and images I get.

Whooo Hooo I received my Limited Edition today biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I'm happy with Mr Isaak and the US and Aussie postal systems for getting to me before I leave for Melbourne

It's funny, i listened to it a bunch and really loved all of it, but then i listened to it the week after, and found myself noticing that some songs I didn't like that much. maybe it's the negative mindset i've been in...but there sure are some great rockers on there. I like Chris most when the band is smokin'.

Heya.
The Best I Ever Had does it for me at the mo.

I'm still thrashing Live In Australia though.

Cheers,

I wonder if you'll love my taste in music when you hear the new band that i'm in? unsure.gif

Miss Sugar, and all other fans of rockabilly, I just thought that (speaking of my new band, and how into shameless self-promotion i am smile.gif ) that you'd want to see this picture.

The guy in the middle is our bassist, do you know who he is?

It's you??? Yeah Mark? Or is it?? If not...who is it?

Haha...thanks for the vote of confidence, but i'm not in the picture. That's the Frantic Flattops, and the guy in the middle is Sid Baker. He's our new bassist, and that's pretty awesome. cool.gif
FifiKitty
If he's the new bass player, what are you playing, Mark? And when do you need the keyboard/pianna player? laugh.gif

I'm playing guitar in this band. smile.gif Its' fun, i haven't played guitar in ages. We're playing a mix of old punk (Clash, Gen X, Rezillos), classic rock stuff (Thin Lizzy, AC/DC), and rockabilly/psychobilly, mostly stuff like the Meteors. We just started playing together, but the minute we need a pianna (Have ya gots a pianna?), you'll be the first one i talk to. wink.gif

Cool Mark. Let FifiKitty and I know if your band plays in the area in the near future.

Definitely. Your fan club will be there for you. tongue.gif

Mark, I figured you were playing guitar in the new band. Ya, I gots a pianna. It's got all 88 keys and everything. tongue.gif And I can fake a Hammond organ sound on it too.

The music you guys are playing sounds good. I see that the Frantic Flattops are from Rochester which made me wonder if they know the Chesterfield Kings. Of course, they would; as I read on further I found that "The group was thrilled to work with Andy Babiuk and Greg Prevost of the Chesterfield Kings, who produced the album." I go way back with the Chesterfield Kings.
mark t
Sid's got some good stories about the Chesterfield Kings, but i won't tell them here....are you friends with them? They toured together quite a bit as i understand. They also knew Ronnie Dawson pretty well, which floored me...I'm a huge Ronnie Dee fan. The reference to the pianna, of course, was from Bugs Bunny, but i'm sure you knew that. smile.gif
FifiKitty
Well, I can't say I'm exactly friends with the Chesterfield Kings but I used to go to a lot of their concerts way back in the '80s that our radio station promoted. I have some photos of me with them around here somewhere hanging out in Hamilton. I don't think I want to know what the "good" stories are. They played a boxing bar in Hamilton once called.....what the heck was it called.......oh yeah, "Patsy Brandino's Ringside Lounge". Patsy Brandino was a big-time boxer in the '40's, so I understand. I think it must have been like one of the rough places Chris talks about playing when he first started out.

I had forgotten about Bugs Bunny and the "pianna" but here it is, at about 5:45 minutes in (Ballot Box Bunny):
