Nothing stopped you entering this competition. FBK apparently entered it on a daily basis. You therefore had every chance that the average non "loyal fan" had.

Or do you think it should ONLY be open to the "loyal fans"? Do you mean the long time loyal fans/concert "go-ers" or the johnny-come-lately loyal fans/concert "go-ers"? Just wondering there!?

The reason he did it, is probably same as doing the MTV crap. Keep the name out there. Who knows, one day Epiphone may release a limited edition "Chris Isaak Signature Model" with a "signature" and "Wicked Game" printed on the head. Just like Roy and his "Oh, Pretty Woman" model.

It's all marketing. Some good. Some bad. Some VERY bad!

So the 'right' person didn't win....er, who cares, basically? Obviously whoever won the guitar (not sure what we're talking about here, was this a straight out-and-out-contest, or did the winner bid for it on ebay??) got it fair and square by the sounds of it. That's life. I don't agree with memorabilia that Chris signs for free ending up on ebay, because that way we ALL lose out (as Chris himself gets ripped off and that may eventually mean no more freebie autograph signings for the rest of us if he decides enough is enough), but if this guitar was won in a fair contest, then the winner was entitled to do with it as they wished. What's the big deal? Will the world end because the 'right' person didn't end up with this guitar?!? And I agree with Jac: what does constitute the 'right' person? All this silly talk of 'the right fan' vs. the 'wrong fan'....c'mon girls - you're sounding like Jonas Brothers fans here. I think we're all a little too old here to start acting like fangirls..... Jac's also right about the marketing angle. Some of it will be good and work wonders, but other decisions made (such as the MTV debacle she's quoting) will be thundering flops. So many things can come along out of the blue and destroy an artist's career as it is, so the self-inflicted dumbing-down of one's own image should be avoided at all costs.

I keep reading about what a terrible decision the MTV awards were. I guess I'm in the REAL minority here, lol, I thought it was okay.

Add another one to your minority group! I wouldn't have sold the guitar either. But then you look at buddy who just won that race thing, gets a Gibson Les Paul as a trophy, runs out into the winner's circle and smashes it, Pete Townshend style. What a waste.
