Does anyone know the name of the song that Hershel starts playing around :58 into this video, just after Chris tells him to play something? I know it's obscure but it's familiar and I can't place it! Thanks

It's "Funk#49" by Joe Walsh from his James Gang days. You can hear it starting at @1:01, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v3fxaaBwM4, when he played it with the Eagles.

WOW! I would never have guessed it was Joe Walsh, not real familiar with his music, although being from Colorado, I do love Rocky Mountain Way..
Thanks Silversands!

Sounds like intro/refrain from Kenny Loggins: "Footloose". It was a big hit for him in the 80's.

That was an awesome clip!! Very funny comments from Chris. Loved Hershel's Joe Walsh solo.

So does anyone know for sure if it was Kenny Loggins, Footloose
or the Joe Walsh tune? or do the two melodies sound identical?
(We don't have access to hear the Walsh tune mentioned.)

Check to left on You Tube, it says James Gang and that was Joe Walsh's band.

Wow. Thanks for that Wildflower. We listened to the Walsh intro and then to Loggins/Footloose, link below. At :50 the part begins that does sound identical to the riff Walsh uses. Seems they both use the same notes in that refrain. This would not be the first set of two songs that have identical parts, hence the copyright lawsuits that have been heard.

You bet! I love "The Bomber" with the "Cast Your Fate To The Wind" riff in the middle. I've always loved that song. So cool to do it on the guitar. And I almost forgot to add Ravel's "Bolero" in there too--pretty neat.

I think Kenney must like them a lot--I recall him writing something about them in one of his old blog entries.

I really miss Kenney's blog, I loved reading it on Saturday mornings with my coffee!
