Chris and Kenney recorded some shows when they came here in Paris in April.

The trailer for the TV show Taratata is available here : http://www.mytaratata.com/Pages/VIDEO_page...ig=iLyROoafMkJU
it's airing on Friday 19th at 8:35 PM, the whole video will be online on the site after its broadcast.

Then, there's this radio show called "Les Nocturnes" on RTL - which has nothing to do with the other one they did in April (thanks God!)-
It will be on on Wednesday June 17, starting at midnight here, so depending on your location probably during the afternoon if you're in the US.

It lasts 3 hours without any commercials cuts. The host Georges Lang will ask Chris to pick the music he wants to listen to, and probably will play some tunes as well.
http://www.rtl.fr/emission/18155/les-noctu...jour=17-06-2009

If you miss it live, you might want to catch it on the site the day after.

That's all folks ! wink.gif

Yes and it would be nice to see some photos of the concert, the packed streets and sights, etc.
Do post if some become available out there! Thanks again.

ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif Bone to pick with Mr. Isaak!!!!!

"The guitar is not a key to a woman's heart"

If he really believes this then he is clearly dating the WRONG WOMEN. Now I feel sorry for him!! I would lean on him and sweetly rest and enjoy while he played and sang...NO TV. He is nuts!!!! He is not dating women who love music or have any taste in music or who are sensitive, feeling, and intuitive!!! Shame on him. I would not wear shoes so I could curl up next to him while he played his guitar and sang. Can I please lovingly swat his head?!

He used to say he discovered when he was young he could make women cry when he played the guitar....well, which is it buddy!!

RANT OVER
FifiKitty
Don't ever locate your musical instrument or play it near the TV. That's the key. (no pun intended)

I'm listening to the 3 hour radio extravaganza with Georges Lang right now and Chris just said that he had a girlfriend who knew which song was on which of his albums, in order, and that made him love her. Just my opinion but what you said ChrisRocks, that Chris has just GOT to date women who love music as much as he does, is so true. (I hope I didn't just go too far. blink.gif)

Claire -- thanks for the links! One more thing -- what Chris just said about Bono is priceless!

Claire, merci, tu est fantastique.

Claire thanks again for all the links and great stuff you've posted, but neither of the links for the RTL show work for me. I tried the second one above and after an hour all I heard were commercials, Lang talking, and other people's very bad music. It's got Chris' picture above the link and says Chris Isaak, but no Chris. I've given up. To what and where is everybody listening?blink.gif

thank fifi. he has simply got to come clean that he is in love...you can tell! rolleyes.gif

Yes, i have trouble with link too.

This link is working for me at this very moment:

Just let it run a bit. There are 169 fun-filled minutes of Chris, his singing, Kenney's asides, and Chris' song picks.

The interviewer starts talking about Chris en Francais at about 1:50.

Quoi?

Vous etes ecoutez this?:

Les Nocturnes du 18 juin 2009

Chris is on right around the 2 minute mark. The interviewer speaks in French, then Engish for Chris. Chris answers, there is a French translation (thankfully not over top).

Just read your post ChrisRocks -- glad you "got it". tongue.gif
Claire
Yeah, sorry I wasn't very specific when I said the "right" link.. I forgot to say they mixed up the dates on their site!

I thought it was a really cool interview, Georges Lang knows his stuff and it's always a pleasure to listen to his shows.

For the record, you can save it as an MP3 file by right clicking on the red link and select "save as"

Another picture from Taratata (airing tonight)

LOL Chrisrocks!

I had just finished listening to the part of the show in which Chris talks about Connie Francis and plays one of her songs. I went out to Home Hardware and heard "My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own" by Connie Francis. (WEIRD?) Perhaps Chris might want to visit Home Hardware when he plays Orillia, Ontario. Who knew it was such a rockin' place? laugh.gif tongue.gif My Mom is a HUGE Connie Francis fan. I've bought her every Connie Francis CD that I could find.
chrisrocks
rolleyes.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Yeah, maybe! Once i heard him say he liked Jim Reeves, who really has a lovely voice and some pretty songs. My mom, who is 80 + used to just love him.

Did you hear what he said about the beatles harmonies on one of their songs and its affect on his second brain, i.e. control center?!! laugh.gif ohmy.gif

I think my favorite song is baby, baby. wub.gif

Oh I had a good laugh when Kenney got slightly miffed when George asked if he and Chris were a couple because they were inseparable, and Kenney says "Thank you George, I thought we were pals, mon ami", and Chris chimes in, "that would be very unlucky!"

"What Chris just said about Bono is priceless!"-------------------FifiKitty

I also loved that Chris was hilariously outspoken about Bono, what a riot!

Edit: I forgot to mention that I really enjoyed hearing "Tijuana Taxi" again--a great, fun choice for his selections. Was that one of the many Herb Alpert tunes frequently played as background music on "The Dating Game" show from ages ago? And then there was that harmonica quip laugh.gif -Chris is just too much.
chrisrocks
Yes, that was funny!
ForeverBlueKoolaid
God they played a lot of STEVIE!!

I just love it when my two faves get all mixed up!
Claire
Glad you liked the show... Georges once invited me in his studio with Chris back in 2002, he's a really nice guy tongue.gif

Just to let you know that Taratata is online :
two different links, the whole show http://www.mytaratata.com/Pages/ARTISTES_F...px?ArtistId=845 (click on the 3rd picture)
Don't miss Paolo Nutini, first because he sounds great, but because at the end all the artists invited to the show get on the set and Chris makes a 'surprise' to the host !

Claire, thanks again for the great info. I only watched the Chris clips so far, but thoroughly enjoyed them. I only hope and wish at least, once, just once, that Chris would perform "It (You) Hurt Me So" in its entirety. He does it better each time I hear the tidbits he gives us now and again. But I could have done without that silly woman interrupting him and Kenney in those back room scenes and without the audience clapping along, grrrr.

Message for Chris: please consider some time, touring solo and performing acoustically only [in your sexy jeans too]. I'm crazy about your acoustic guitar and singing certain of your own songs along with the great oldies and classics you do. What a show that would be--also a great CD! Just my opinion ...

And Claire, please go to the festival tomorrow and have a grand time!

For those who listened to the radio show--

WHAT EXACTLY DID CHRIS SAY ABOUT BONO?

Please post! Many thanks.
Claire
Chris and Kenney did this TV appearance yesterday evening on "la fête de la musique" but it was a bit scary.. they did two songs (Blue Hotel and We lost our way) with some musicians (if they can be called so) pretending to play ... The only thing that was real was Chris's voice, singing over the instrumental version, in front of thousands of teenagers waiting for their pop/ electronic stars .. Weird choice from the manager I think ! I'm glad I didn't go.

There's another show which sounds much better ... and the best thing is, I will be in the audience.. I am Miss Lucky for once smile.gif
The show will be recorded tomorrow evening, and it will be available on the net, live at 8:45 PM.

I have to find the parts in the interview where Chris talks about Bono. He mentions him twice. The first time is something about we are lucky that we have Bono to tell us what to do and what to wear tongue.gif and the second time it was about Sun Studios and Chris said Bono did it for publicity. BUT........don't quote me because I have to re-listen. Will do so later on.

I totally agree with you!! Chris in jeans. I love the MTV unplugged they did 15 years ago.

Junebug,

I found the really funny bit about Bono in the interview. It's around the 32 minute mark.

Chris talked about Roy Orbison and what a great person he was and how much he missed him. Georges asked Chris if he sometimes has regrets because he is younger than "these guys" (e.g., Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly) and does he wish he had known them when they were very successful in the '50's and '60's. Chris said "like Sinatra said", "regrets I got a few but then again, too few to mention. It's been a great time to be in music. And...and...you know, the one other thing, and we have Bono to tell us what to do and those guys didn't have the benefit of having Bono around who knew things -- what to eat, what to wear, how to vote..." Georges - "What to spend". Chris -- "Yeah, what to spend, what not to spend..." Georges - "What to say..." Chris - "Time to go to bed now..."

Thanks a lot Fifi! Appreciate it. Wow Chris is getting a bit of gumption these days, likely born of fatigue, frustrations, and the passing years--and giving back some of the flack he's been getting from these interviewers which is good, healthy! What did he say about Sun studios? Did Bono get to record there and Chris did not? Thanks again.
FifiKitty
You're welcome, Junebug. Oh gosh -- does anyone else remember what Chris said about Sun Studios? I think the interviewer asked him if he was going to record there like Bono and he said Bono did it for publicity but he was jealous........I'll have to check.

Claire -- I just watched Chris on "One Shot Not". Awesome! I haven't seen Chris play piano before -- more of that would be good. Unfortunately, the feed cut out on "Only the Lonely", the song that Chris restarted because he wanted less piano. That's what would happen to me. I dream of playing the piano with Chris and if I ever get to one day, he'll say "less piano". laugh.gif All the tambourine fans must be happy since Chris requested "more tambourine" on Blue Hotel.

I caught part of "We Lost Our Way", "Only the Lonely". and "Blue Hotel". I watched Elbow earlier on and then went off and didn't check back in time. What did I miss?

Claire -- were you shown in the audience? Thanks so much for letting us know. I dug the tie and the jam at the end. Also the shades.
ChrisIsFine
I just saw Chris on the "One Shot Not" tv show weblink that Claire posted. He sang "We Lost Our Way", "Only The Lonely", and "Blue Hotel". It was good seeing him on there.

Claire
Glad for those who were able to watch "One shot not".

I had a wonderful time as you can imagine ! It was like a concert in a tiny venue (150 people).
When they arrived, Kenney walked next to me but I didn't dare speaking to him sad.gif
Chris seemed to enjoy the show. After the "blue Hotel"part, he walked away and came back to give a big hug to the host... He did the same on Taratata, so I'm guessing he liked both shows smile.gif
Fifi, I was just standing in the first row right behind the piano (a Steinway), so when Chris came to play, I could even touch his hair .. which I didn't ! lol
I hope I won't be shown in the audience, but since I haven't seen the video, I don't know yet ... The show will be broadcasted on TV this fall.

Just one last thing ... When I was standing in line to get my purse back, I saw Chris with a plate full of "petits fours" and believe me when I say "full" ! maybe he had to feed Rodney too wink.gif

Thanks, Claire for more clips. The fete clip is the sharpest live concert video I've ever seen. The clarity is amazing, especially of Chris' always-exquisite and very blue eyes. And the little Taratata snippets were cute too. Do you know of anybody who was able to record/youtube the One Shot Not with Chris? It's no longer available to watch on that site. sad.gif

Also Claire, glad you got to be in the audience and had a great time in that nice intimate setting, bet the acoustics and sound were fantastic.
