Does anyone here have a YouTube account? Because I don't, but here's what I can do regards the AFL Footy Show thing tomorrow night.... I can record the show straight to DVD, and then upload the file onto my computer and then send it off to either somebody in Aus, or somebody in the States with a YouTube account who can then upload it for everybody. One little warning: video files are BIG mothers, so you'd have to have an email account or generous ISP that would allow you to receive big files via email. Also, I have no idea if Channel 9 gets pissy about having their shows YouTubed....but that's another thing worth thinking about. If you're willing to take the risk, then so am I. Oh, an alternative to emailing the file would be for me to upload it to my own web server, and to provide a download link. Hopefully, somebody else who we're not even aware of will beat us to it anyway, lol, but..... Just in case there's no other solution so everyone can watch it.......

Dust Keeps Isaak Grounded

Singer Chris Isaak was among hundreds of commuters caught in Sydney's extraordinary dust storm yesterday.

Isaak, who was meant to be flying to Melbourne yesterday afternoon, was among countless people stranded at Sydney airport, after the red dust storm crippled it.

He spent hours waiting as his flight was pushed back later and later.

Isaak, who will be performing at the Rod Laver Arena for the Grand Final edition of The Footy Show tonight, boarded a plane after 6pm.

Hope he found himself some clean air while he was up there. (Sydney went through a bizarre dust storm yesterday that lasted for hours, and turned everything red). Years of drought, combined with strong winds whipped up a lot of red topsoil from the outback and it ended up covering most of the eastern seaboard, except for Victoria. Hopefully it stays north of the border too...we get enough of Sydney's riff-raff down here as it is.

I had heard about that this morning on NPR!!! That's just freaking weird!!

Munchie, Cheryl is trying to help me figure out how to load a video taken on a mobile phone of the show in Melbourne on Saturday. I have saved it to my music folder. I will not let me forward to Cheryl so that she can try to upload it for everyone to see. Do you have any suggestions on what I need to do to get a link on here so that people can view the video. The friend that sent it to me wants it shared with everyone.

Kazz...I just emailed you about this. I just realised I'm a little confused (nothing new!) did you mean the video is still stuck inside your phone, or have you managed to transfer it from the phone to your computer yet??

Help to get it here for anyone to view would be appreciated. I don't understand all that zip/unzip stuff and wouldn't know where to begin. It's still early in California (5:50 a.m.) but I know once Munchie gets those chickens out of her yard, she'll help you. (I sent her a heads up.) If she can't help for some reason, I'll do my best. We all want to see the video, I'm sure.

I've just heard from a friend in Tasmania, she reckons Chris sings two songs - she's not a fan so didn't know the name of the songs. Not on here in queensland for another hour. Its now 11:00 pm so don't think I'll be able to sit up that long ..... have to be bright and sparkly for work tomorrow

Ahhh...right. (Man, they don't call me techno-bimbo for nothing!) O.k. I'll sleep on this overnight, and try and figure out what to do tomorrow...

Well, I've come from only five minutes ago from seeing Chris on the 'Footy Show'. I didn't sit through it all...just flicked back and forth between ad breaks while watching something else (the show was being recorded the whole time however), but lucked out to see Chris earlier in the night when he was sitting at a table in the audience being interviewed, and then when I flicked over a little while ago, caught his actual performance just now. It was brief...very brief...they introduced him as doing a 'medley' of his greatest hits, and I thought...whooo! I was expecting a mini-concert, but not quite! What he did was 'You Don't Cry Like I Do' that merged into 'Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing' that merged into the 'Bye Bye Baby, Bye Bye' thing that he does at his live shows....and that was about the sum of it. Tiny little bit of banter afterwards, and that was it. The host joked about Chris coming down to Australia all the time and how he must love us (can't those guys think of more original things to say?! That's all they ever DO say to him, lol) and how we should adopt him, and Chris asked if he (interviewer) had a younger sister....then he'd agree to it. *snicker* But like I said, I didn't watch it all, so hopefully he might pop up again during the course of the earlier part of the show....I'll review the tape tomorrow when I transfer it to DVD.

Just to quickly explain why I didn't watch the show in it's entirety - it's a very acquired taste, this show. It's all ex-footballers with big egos....some are o.k. guys, but some are annoying as hell, so best to avoid! One of them has had so much plastic surgery he looks like he's been embalmed. (Sam Newman...looks creepy as. They'll never need to make a waxwork dummy out of him if they decide to put him in Madam Tussauds one day, they can just use the original!) But anyway, Chris looked mighty fine, and sounded just as good, too!

Kazz, you can set up a youtube account or upload it to http://www.sendspace.com/. You don't have to open an account for that site. What type of file (extension) is the video? (mpg, avi etc).
Once it is uploaded you are given a link. You would post that on the board and we could download the file. The site is like "savefile" but savefile is down right now.

FifiKitty, I cannot take the credit for the great video. A gorgeous mate sent it to me, and was happy for me to share it with everyone on here. But until Munchie and Cheryl assisted me, I had no idea how I could share the joy. My email wouldn't let me send the big file to Cheryl for her to work her magic. Then Munchie gave me the link? to download it to, and voila.

What a relief it all worked. I love watching the video again and again.

Definitely credit where credit is due. Munchie got me through that process with my mates video. I didn't sit through the Footy Show. Saw the bit in the Green Room while channel surfing during a commercial break. And got a call about the actual performance. I hope to see it too.

Some answers ~ not sure what happened to Scotty. And, well done: it is the same John Foreman who was on Aust. Idol. In 1996 or so, he was Musical Director (and a wee baby) of a show called "Good Morning Australia" which was hosted by one of our icons, Bert Newton. Out here you either love or hate Bert. I like him as whenever he had Chris on, you always got an interview that was better than most. There's some video of Chris and Kenney on GMA and John joining in on keyboards - so they all go back a long way!

Just a quick suggestion for the future, how about hooking up an FTP server, or even making the files into torrents then we can all share :-)
I did it old school and taped it on VHS :-P

I'm a footy fan (go Dons 2010!) so I watched the show, and I really found it interesting having just seen Chris at the concert, wow, TV just simply doesn't compare to the real thing!

That quip about "you got a sister?" was a little unfortunate though, that was James Brayshaw he said it to, JB's sister was killed a while back when a garage wall collapsed on her; of course Chris had no way of knowing that, but someone will probably tell him and he'll feel like crap for saying it.

Anyway, there wasn't enough Chris, but there never is :-P

Oh God yeah....I forgot all about James Brayshaw's sister.....not that I knew much to start with, but do remember reading about it at the time, and how devastated he and his family was. But you know what? It was a completely innocent remark on Chris's behalf - as you said yourself - and I'm sure James was well aware of that too. If it did get back to Chris at the time (which I doubt....I don't think anyone in his entourage would have known about it, and it's not the sort of thing one of the other Footy Show people would have brought up in normal conversation with him) he shouldn't feel like crap at all....these things happen and he wasn't to know. He's always such a gentleman and so very popular with the showbiz world here, I'm sure he didn't offend anyone. Oh, btw, did you see that big kiss he blew to us all at the end?! I loved that.....that was so sweet of him. I swear it flew right through the screen and landed smack on my cheek! (I ain't washing my face for a week!)

(btw, I'm the one with the FTP server....I've got a lot of room on it too, and large bandwidth, so if anyone ever has any huuuuge files they want to share, just let me know and send 'em my way, and I can then upload them and provide all with download links. It's just a shame that Kazz couldn't email her friend's video - probably because of her ISP file size transfer requirements - something she wouldn't have any control over.)
