Sallie,
I don't know if he's married or not for sure... but I do know that a ring keeps showing up on his left hand. Check it out.

As far as I know he is not married. But like the others I don't like butting in to other people's lives. Ya know? And I saw that same ring when he performed a special on PBS. It did not look like awedding ring to me niether.

Thanks for the link to the Chris interview, that was a fun read. Very interesting about his time in Afghanistan. I think all the performers who travel to entertain the troops are brave and gracious for giving them that respite.

I'm not at all interested in Chris' private life. He deserves his private life. I just hope he's happy.

biggrin.gif I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Glad to hear the Chris Isaak is NOT married, mainly because I am lucky enough to have won a Meet and Greet with him on October 29, 2006 when he comes back to Australia for his tour.

I guess I will be posting out the invitations for our wedding......probably a month or so after that. LOL! But I promise I'll keep you up to date.

I can't wait to look into those Blue Blue Blue eyes when I tell him I need a date for my work Christmas Party in November - and ask him if he is available. Of course he'll Say "Yes, you are the most beautiful girl I have ever met and I want to see you again, but why do we have to wait till then? Why can't we have dinner tonight after the concert?"

Well, that's at least how it goes in my repedative dream. I have been discussing with my girlfriend what I should wear on the the night of the meet and greet. My friend doesn't like the outfit I have chosen. She thinks I should play a little harder to get and not wear my mother's wedding dress. LOL.

laugh.gif laugh.gif Good on ya' Patty. You go girl. smile.gif LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY you! I remember a few years ago, standing in JB Hi-Fi just before one of Chris's tours down here, and there on the counter was one of those rip-off-a-page-and-help-yourself notepads - each page being an entry form for a comp. that was "Win an Evening with Chris Isaak" My eyes almost popped outta my head. lol I tore off a couple of sheets (well...maybe more than a couple - I never do things by half, lol) but sadly, that trip must have been cancelled, because I never heard another thing about it. I can't remember what year it was, but I think it was around summer when I was in that store, and the meet/greet thingo was for a date in May - but the tour was obviously cancelled. (Not that I would have won it anyway, even if I'd stole the entire notepad, lol). Hey, we'll all just have to live vicariously through you. Have a great night!! IPB Image

Wead me won more story....please?!" You bounce up and down on his knee in anticpation..and then he starts, "So and so begat somebody, who begat somebody else...who........." (and then, after the first page you say..."Oh...sorry, I think I fell off to sleep and missed a bit of that! Could you start again??!) tongue.gif

I know what you should wear... you should wear your wedding night outfit<very evil grin>, blow the wedding dress, get straight to the heart of the matter and let the man know what you want, and its not just a date to your work Christmas Party either.

How can you stand the anticipation? I have ants in my pants just waiting for the Hunter Valley Gig at Bimbadgen Estate in Nov 06, I'm already marking the dates of my calendar at work...oh be still my beating heart.

Howdy Uncle Pat! Chris buying some real estate down here? It would be nice! But he doesn't need his own place - he can bunk in with me any time he likes. ("Ooops, sorry Chris - I don't have that extra bed after all, guess you'll just have to jump in with me!") laugh.gif There's actually a townhouse in the same street where I live for sale - except the guy who built it has put it on the market for about 3 times the amount of $ that it's actually worth - and the place looks like a Nissan hut.

I think if Chris ever did seriously consider buying a place out here, it'd be up in Sydney, for sure, where the city is close to all the ocean beaches. He should though, in my opinion, invest in a nice little holiday house down here in Victoria - down on the Great Ocean Road - then it'd be nice and handy to Bell's Beach (great surfing spot).....er...not to mention closer to me! biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Saw Chris last night at the Oregon Zoo......Great show!!! I also was lucky enough to get an autograph! I got a good, up close look at his ring...it looks like a wedding band. Though his martial status is of no concern to me - it would change he feel of his music. I mean, his whole image is this lost love, lonely heart man. Difficult to sell records about all that if the public knew he was happily married. I can understand why he would want to keep up that image and keep any marriage secret...JMO....

well, that would be pretty sad, I guess. I think there is some part in being married that you do get to tell the world, LOOK! I'VE FOUND THE ONE! COME SHARE MY HAPPINESS! Of course, that's not a reason to get married or stay married, but just a thought. If we have to get into the dirty about selling records, well, I think he'd have a whole other world to write about if he did find someone special and was on to other things, you know? really, I think the truth is in the music and if there was someone truly that significant, we'd heard something, a tiny bit about it? right. whatever his status, married, straight, gay? ( not), their music keeps me listening..and I know Pamela, you feel the same.

I wouldn't stop listening to Chris if I were to learn that he was married. I hope I didn't come across that way. I was just meaning that a lot of people feel that they have a certain image to up hold. Chris' image is that of a guy who is unlucky in love. We are used to hearing the sad love songs. The songs would lose some of their sincerity - believability....if the general population were to learn that in truth he was happily married. I personally think it would be great if Chris finally found happiness and a successful relationship / marriage. I don't think his songs would have the same impact if they were all up-beat, happy love songs...but. as you say, married, single, gay or straight, I'd still listen to Chris - or anyone else whos music I enjoyed.

This might be kind of an odd comparison, but it reminded me of the newspaper comic "Cathy", do you know which one I am talking about? For years and years her character had reflected her real life writer, never finding love and making that the basis of the whole comic strip. A couple years ago she got married and I wondered how it was going to affect her comic but she has worked it in perfectly. I think musicians do the
same thing. Their music reflects where they are, but I don't think it would be a total radical change.

I do know what you are saying. I just think if Chris is or were to get married - we would never know. It is the whole image thing. It is like an sexy leading actor being gay - but publicly denies it - because it could damage their image. If Chris were to begin singing happy, up beat love songs...I'm not sure they would have the same feel as his current music does. But, I could be wrong. Again, what ever his maritial statis is or isn't - happy songs, or sad, I love his music and will continue to listen. I wonder if anyone has ever asked him about the ring? I was tempted to last night - "So Chris, what's up with the ring". Yeah, right smile.gif
GirlFriday
well i do think it's natural for people to wonder, considering the theme of his ENTIRE collection of songs. and it is interesting to think about what the future could hold, as far as his songwriting capabilities go. from an artistic standpoint, it would be pleasing to many to see an evolution of sorts...you know, sudden joy and peace within his songs. i think his fans would be nothing but pleased for him. but from a modern media-frenzied pressure-of-the-business standpoint, i think image carries much more importance than the profundity of who we, (or they, as in the 'artists') are as individuals.

ahhh, he's a smart guy. he'll sail right through to happiness, if he hasn't already...

Just from a human standpoint. I think a married man is the ultimate in attractive. You worked hard to find the person and to have an adult, long-term relationship. Life is too messed up to spend it alone and to beautiful to share it with no one. A man with children is even sexier, oh my. Perhaps that is what really makes you a "man." Not the fertilization thing, but being courageous and lucky enough to take on the hardest job in the world.

I think commitment phobic men * IN GENERAL *are a total turnoff. Means your FEAR is greater than your willingness to LOVE, among other things.

Which one CI is or will be, we'll all see. And I'm sure his fans will love him the same. Do I buy their music and go to concerts because the guys are single? NO. They're great performers. You can be sexy and married, too!

I saw the ring in Livermore also. I thought it might be the same one he has been wearing slipped around? If it was some big media secret, why would he wear the ring in such public places as his concerts? I don't think that it would hurt him professionally at all, but I would have to quit looking at matching wedding rings for the two of US!! laugh.gif blink.gif

Boy, disappear for a week or so and you miss out on all kinds of stuff! As for my opinion . . . I don't give a flying fig about CI's sexual preference; it's the music--the person that I like. I wouldn't care if CI were a NEUTER as long as he keeps up the awesome tunes! cool.gif

I thought he is in a long term romantic relationship with his manager?

I guess that does still qualify as "single," though.

I know nothing.

I thought I read it somewhere at one point. THAT IS IT. Even so, if he were in a relationship and then they got married, Chris would really kind of look like a huge liar, saying all this time there really wasn't anyone. You know? Who knows. I know we are all just playing, but its human.

He says the ring is from his Italian Catholic mother...I'm not sure which ring though tongue.gif I stared at his hands close up...and they sure don't look like the usual wedding bands.

Oh well. he hasn't aged at all. I suppose the no smoking/drugs/no marriage must be keeping him in the throes of enjoying his "extremely late 40s" as he puts it.
