AUSTRALIAN TV INTERVIEW WITH CHRIS ~ 'BACKSTAGE PASS'

O.k. I've finished this little project, and I have 16 parts to offer overall (sorry, I know I said there were 17 parts originally, but I stuffed up the numbering of these files, and it turned out there were only 16 - that's what you get when you try and do all this stuff at about 1 o'clock in the morning, on too much coffee and not enough sleep, lol). You will need Apple's Quicktime player to view them. Yes, the quality is NOT perfect, and it is going to be a bugger to view it in so many different parts, but they'll be numbered, and they'll all be offered in order. I don't have broadband, so I'm afraid I can't offer them all at once (the uploading - as in the downloading - is a killer, too). But, this will be an ever-growing list over the next week or so, so stay tuned, because I'll be back with updates.

Updated Saturday, 26/8/06 7.00 pm ALL DONE! Hallelujah...now I'm going to crawl away to a quiet spot and have a nice little nervous breakdown, cause I've earnt it! lol.....(Nah.. ... it seriously wasn't THAT bad...I'm just bein' a drama queen - because let's face, that's what I do! ) O.k. enough of the crappola, there are now in total, 16 parts available for downloading. I am going to leave them on my server for a little while (hopefully for at least a month or so) but there will come a time when I'll need the room for other (work-related) stuff, so I'd advise you to d/load sooner than later if you really want them. If I remember to, I'll post a message warning people that they're all about to come down, a day or two before I do it. Luckily, bandwidth isn't an issue right now, because I have a stack of it. If there are any problems at all, just leave a message here or PM me, and I'll be glad to help you out with it.

No worries! Yeah, I thought I'd better put this in its own thread, because it would have got buried under the original one, and a lot of people would have missed out on it altogether. Anyway, glad it came down the pipe o.k. and it all worked for you, lol. I'm going to have to upload other stuff for a day or so (work-related stuff - so my apologies, but that's good for me - it means I'm making money, lol) so it may be a little while before I can upload the next part - but it'll get done, don't you worry about that. Remember, patience is a virtue.

You're right, Miss Sugar - interviewer Angela did seem a little perplexed at times, lol. But, IMHO she did a much better job at connecting with our man than some of the other people who talked to him while he was out here. (Can anybody say 'Kerry Anne Kennerly"?! If you ask me, he was more taken with her shoes than her ). I think this was the best one of all - he really seemed to take to Angie P. They were on the same wavelength, so that made the interview rock along very nicely (pun unintended).

(p.s. Oh, I almost forgot - I loved that whole 'This isn't any of your damn business!' thing. It was a scream...how did Chris describe it?? 'It combines arrogance, with ignorance'. ) How witty is that?! God that man is so perfect - I'm gonna ask him to marry me next Sadie Hawkins day - that's if I can catch him first, that is.

I am so glad I recorded that interview.

Yeah, it's from the Baja Sessions video. I don't know anything about a DVD, but this video is around 10 years old now (I don't think DVD's would have been even heard of back then ) This was a cross-marketing thing for the album when it was first released, if I remember rightly. We all raced out and grabbed copies of it as soon as it came out. My memory's a little rusty on this, but I think this was the one that I ended up making copies of for internet buddies in the U.S. at the time - so I don't think it was ever released in the States. It may have been shown on cable TV over there, but I think that Australia might have been the only place where this video was ever released. I hope you get to see it one day - it was good value! Chris and Kenney and Roly and the guys, schleppin' around the Baja peninsula. It had Chris's commentary running all the way through it, interspersed with the music. The commentary was very similar to the 'Best Of' DVD - very funny and made a nice contrast to all the dreamy, romantic music. Oh, and of course there was always the eye-candy too....Chris surfing...Chris looking pretty in a white suit strumming his guitar...Chris doing this...Chris doing that...

I think the 'missing' answers were all due to the editing, if anything. To me, it looked like he was considering what to say, when JUMP it seemed to skip a bit. I would have loved to have known what his first concert was too...I was disappointed that they left that on some cutting room floor somewhere. I think, what actually happened, was that she totally included Kenney in all of that - if you notice, she was asking him the same questions, so I guess there wasn't time for BOTH of their responses for each question. Shame, but there you go...



Well, if you remember, when Angie asked him, "Why didn't it work out with the Pin-up/Card carrying chick?" he replied that "Who said she's gone? She's still around." typa thing...so, by the sounds of that, she's still very much on the scene.



Dunno...haven't got a clue as to that one. But, there's a lot of stuff that can go on between men/women, you know? From the trivial "I'm sick and tired of you leaving your stinky old socks lying on the bedroom floor all the time!" or, the tired and tested old arguments of, "When are you going to learn how to put the toilet seat back down again?!" and, "Can't you squeeze the toothpaste tube from the BOTTOM, and not the MIDDLE?!" to more serious stuff....but as to what actually goes on between him and his women...who really knows except for them?? **shrugs**

Hey, what did you think of the bit where he sang the 'Chlamydia' song for the koalas?? 'My groin was on fire'...etc. I just about CACKED myself laughing when he did that And the mascot, 'Scratchy', lol. Actually....I think you can hear me laughing in the background during that bit (sorry!)

I have not posted here often, but just have to say that I am very disappointed in the ever greater numbers of increasingly snarky posts about Chris' life in various threads on these boards. Just because he is a public person does not mean that he is not entitled to have a private life. I presume that any one of us working with the public has a "public face" and a "private face". I know I certainly do. Being an entertainer, and a great one at that, is simply his job. None of us know him, and none of us deserve to have any private information about his life. How could someone ever post that she wonders if he has an STD?! I would just like to say that I hope he is happy, whatever his situation is. Dating numerous women? Why would that be a terrible thing for any man to do? I have never been interested in knowing his personal details, I have just enjoyed the many years of fantastic music he has provided his fans.

HE SAID IT WAS "DUMB" TO NOT APPRECIATE BEING CELEBRATED OR KNOWN FOR YOUR WORK....FOR YOUR WORK...NOT YOUR SEXUAL PREFERENCE, WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE AIDS OR WHO YOU'RE SLEEPING WITH.

MAYBE HE DOESN'T APPRECIATE CERTAIN QUESTIONS THAT ANGIE ASKS HIM. WHY DIDN'T YOU QUESTION HER QUESTIONS?

WHAT'S REALLY DISTURBING ABOUT THESE KINDS OF INTERVIEWS IS THAT IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S JUST THE TWO OF THEM TALKING. THERE'S A FALSE SENSE OF INTIMACY OR FRIENDSHIP. WHEN THERE'S PEOPLE ALL AROUND (THE CAMERAMAN) AND MILLIONS WATCHING THE EVENTUAL BROADCAST. IT'S ALL VERY ARTIFICIAL AN DOWNRIGHT SCARY! I THINK CI HANDLED THE PRESSURE SOMEWHAT GRACEFULLY, BUT HE DOES RELY A LOT ON KENNEY. KENNEY DEFLECTS A LOT OF THE ATTENTION...WITH INTERVIEWS AND BLOGS...AND MEET AND GREETS.

BUT YOU'RE RIGHT ABOUT PEOPLE'S MEDICAL HISTORY BEING PRIVATE. I'M ALL FOR THAT.

Oh, and by way of a more general response to all of this ~ if you used the term 'STD' down here in Aus, people would think you're about to make a phone call, seriously. When we ring someone outside of the metropolitan area, whether it be in the country or interstate, it's an STD (Standard Trunk Dialling - don't ask me what that means ) call. And whenever I think of koalas speaking which, er, isn't very often, I must admit lol, I think of Geoffrey Rush! Huh?! Yes, good old Geoffrey - because he was the voice of 'Blinky Bill' the koala, in the kiddies cartoon movie about the life and times of good ol' Blinky Bill - a character out of Australian children's literature, lol.

As I recall, he has mentioned lawsuits in a VERY joking way quite a few times in the past. A couple of times alone in his Best Of DVD. From the little that I have seen, he is quite a funny and self-deprecating man. And, since the man is 50 years old and simply gorgeous, I for one would expect that he has been with more than "several" women in his private life. My public face/private face comment was not about being a totally different person, or not being nice offstage. It was that we should all be allowed to be who we are when not in public, even famous people. That we should all be able to keep private bits just that, private and special to us. I still say let the man date in peace, as many women as he wants. I am still in line for all of his great music.

Just a tip turtlegirl ~ when you're responding to a specific post (particularly if you have a point to make), it'd help if you quoted that post, or just the part you're referring to, inside your own message (by hitting the 'reply' button at the bottom of the post you wish to reply to). I'm saying this because I got all the way through reading your message, and assumed because it was directly under mine that you were answering me. I was just about to reply that I didn't know what on earth you were talking about (i.e. lawsuits and so on, and how was that relevant to my post) until I read over all the messages posted above. I'm not trying to be a bossy-boots here ( ) it's just that it can be confusing when this happens and can lead to misunderstandings. Thanks!

Thanks for putting all 16 parts of that Australian interview on the board. I've been watching a few at a time. It's great that everyone shares all things Chris and Silvertone here because we all get different photos, articles, TV shows, etc. I think Angela did a smashing job of interviewing Chris and Kenney. She was a really good sport. The three of them looked like they were having a blast. Thanks again.
