Well, apart from how he's so easy-on-eyes etc. I've gotta say, what I like about him most is he's so damn
nice to people. I've never seen him get snotty with anyone down here in any of his interviews - he's always such a gentleman. Also, he just looks like the type of guy (putting all romantic/lustful jokes aside) who would be fun to hang out with, you know? Kind of like a great big-brother substitute, or even just as a really good friend. I think he'd be a guy who'd be quite knowledgable about a wide range of things (after all, he's educated and has been around for a while and is probably full of interesting stories) so it'd be really good just to sit down with him and just have fun with.

Why do I love Chris? Where do I start! Of course I love his looks than there is his wonderful voice but my
favorite thing about Chris is his crazy sense of humor. His funny and he doesn't mind being the butt of a joke. Secondly, his songs are written from the heart. Chris shares apart of himself in his music. Who could
resist a man who shares his soul in his words. Chris is and always will be special to me.

I love Chris because he got me out of the house at a point in my life when it was now or never!!! And what a sweet decision it was to go to the Stockton concert by myself and scared to death!!! That concert was among the most amazing shows I have seen! Those being Elvis twice, the Supremes, Bob Segar (sp), Ten Years After, Tower of Power, and I hate to admit it but N*sync!!!
My sister and I took my niece to the Oakland concert and it was pretty great! Now my niece and I have this competition thing going on between Chris and Justin!!!! Well, guess who is winning?
I also totally appreciate how grounded Chris seems!

Has anyone checked out Kenney's latest blog entry?
http://www.chrisisaak.blogspot.com/There's a great story in there he tells of Chris and Roly bidding on ebay (or wherever?) for a guitar...anyway, I won't repeat it all here - it's Kenney's story to tell, after all, but it only goes to reinforce the theory that Chris is a sweetheart of a man, and generous to a fault - check it out.

I absolutely agree with you, Deanna.
Chris is a great guy who makes great music. The great thing about the music is that when Chris comes out with a new CD, you don't have to listen to it before buying to know if it's any good...you can be sure of the high quality! I still haven't discovered any other artist who can do that!
And on top of that, when seeing him on TV and hearing his comments on his Best Of-DVD, you just have to love him. His voice when talking is so lovely (I know, it's lovely when he sings too)!

1. He is a hard worker and it shows. Hard workers appreciate others and I'm a damn hard worker and like to please my customers, too. My guess is that he puts his customers (fans-us) in front of himself --perhaps too much of the time. As we get older, we're supposed to recognize that we don't need to do that so much, but yah, keeping a career going for 2 decades takes a lot of dedication.
2. Great sound and real connection to it. You can hear people play real instruments. You can hear that amazing voice.
3. Nice look. I'm sure he works hard to keep himself together and it pays off. I hope he has children someday because it would nice for him to leave the world someday with a little of what he has shared with all of us.

Oh man, what's not to like? He should come with a blood pressure warning. Mine, not his.
My sentiments exactly!! My BP does spike up a bit when I listen to him sing, or watch some of those spicy videos he's made (one scene in Solitary Man comes to mind).
Years ago (1991, to be exact) I loved Chris for his rugged handsomeness and lovely, sexy song (Wicked Game, of course). Then I discovered his charming, self-deprecating sense of humor, his incredible musical talent, and his down-to-earth demeanor. I love that he is a 'regular guy', not really into the Hollywood scene, despite his celebrity status. And I like that he is thoughtful and respectful, too.
So here I am, 15 years later, and I STILL love Chris for all of the above reasons. Simply put, he is my vision of the perfect man (although I realize he is only human and MUST have a fault or 2, somewhere).
I LOVED the story about him buying the steel guitar for Roly and surprising him in Atlanta with it. Wish I had been at that concert.
Love the topic, BTW....

My reasons need some boring background first...
I grew up in the 70's listening to my Dad's impecable taste of music which consisted of all the crooners we now refer to as 'legends', anything big band and anything with a good beat! My Dad was a well respected drummer in his hey day here in Australia and instilled in me an appreciation of good artists and good music. Although a little embarrassing to admit, I didn't really have an awareness of 70's music until I was about 20!
I find Chris to be from an era of true gentleman where being humble and polite was something that came naturally and you took pride in.
An era where artists dressed out of respect and an audience did so also.
I have always been swept up in the romanticsm that this era envokes and long for a return of well mannered and well dressed folk!
Call me old fashioned!
I find respect for others a dying culture and what a terrible shame!
I'm getting to my point!
For me the attraction to Chris Isaak and his music seems to run deeper than just the words he sings. He is one of an elite group of well mannered and dignified men who not only has respect for his fans and his family but more importantly, himself! how refreshing that we don't ever read reports about Chris Isaak's bad behaviour or his foul language or his lack of respect for anyone! It would be safe to say that it will have all gone to hell in a hand basket if we ever read those words!
What an unbelievable coincidence also that he his not DNA challenged in anyway!!!
He He!

I have been listening to Chris' music for years but he didn't really become my huge crush until the day I met him. He was just so nice and down to earth. My son was with me and he shook his hand and talked to him. He told me about Stockton and asked where I lived. I had my little dog Basil with me, who was just shivering in my arms, which Chris noticed so he took out those instant hand warmer things that he had in his pocket (it was a cold and windy day) and gave them to me for him. Yes, I still have them. Maybe I should get him to sign them. When he talked to me he was genuinely listening and talking to me and looking me in the eyes while talking. When we met again 2 years later, he remembered me and again we had a nice normal conversation. I have been to 6 concerts since then and each time in the meet and greet he remembers me and I manage to have a nice chat without being nervous and giddy.
I love that he is a genuinely nice person and that it's not just an act.
He is a hard working entertainer that puts on a really awesome live show.
He's got a beautiful voice, beautiful blue eyes that you feel go right through you, and he is so funny.
And what about what he did for Roly? And he loves his mom!

No question for me, the first thing is the voice--I can close my eyes and feel it making my bones thrum. But like someone else mentioned in their post, when you start finding out how not-in-love-with-himself the guy is, how humble and personable and funny and thoughtful and gracious he is--- what's not to love? In this age of mack-talking, bling-bearing, stunt-seeking, wardrobe-malfuntioning, profanity-spewing wannabee's, Chris Isaak stands head and shoulders (literally and figuratively) above the majority.

You know, I just figured out the answer to the question "why I like CI" last night, and over the years the reasons have changed. When I first heard CI in the late '80s and early '90s, it was because of his unique sound and smooth voice. About a decade passed before I listened to him again (I saw my first show just this past summer), and now that I am older it is the lyrics that I like. It is like someone has been looking at my life, wrote what they saw, and started to sing about it. I can identify with the lost love songs, and is comforting to know that maybe a man feels about a woman the same way I feel about a man (well, I can hope that is true and not just showmanship)... misery loves company, and my love life has not been great, and it seems his hasen't either... how else could anyone be so inspired to write all those sad songs. So I guess I also identify with him as an individual if indeed his lyrics are a reflection of his heart.
