Sigh. Heard that shoe shopping, to my surprise. Hadn't heard it in a long time and forgot how it really kicks ass. Funny, I thought of Kenney when I heard the opening and then in a split second, realized it WAS Kenney, and that's why I thought of him. Duh. tongue.gif

Then got in my car and heard Somebody's Crying on the radio!

*giggle*

So did you wonder aimlessly around the shoe shop until the
song had finished? I luuurve I'm not Sleepy! It's always a
favourite on road trips.

The only thing I ever hear on the radio is BDABBT. Maybe
I should ring our local station and tell them that Isaak has
more than just that particular song. huh.gif

I was actually right near a speaker and trying on a pair of shoes so I just kinda went in circles slowly and up and down the aisle a bit, grinning from ear to ear the whole time! I must always look quite goofy when I hear CIS in stores.

You should try it when sitting in a dentists chair and Isaak comes on the
radio. I had to concentrate so hard on not singing and sitting still. huh.gif

People just don't understand - I tell them it's an Isaak thing.

I want to live where you are living! That is one of my favorite CI&S songs. *sigh* No one plays Chris round here. rolleyes.gif

Which one is one of your favs QT, INS or SC? I was very surprised to hear it in the shoe store since it's not one that gets a lot of play, even here (San Francisco area).

I'm Not Sleepy. It's rockin! I was suprised to hear it was played since it wasn't a single or anything. Almost like a deep cut.
smile.gif
I always have problems sleeping. Wish I Chris would invite me over to watch tv... wink.gif

Most radio stations now have web sites, just have everyone you know inundate them with request e-mails for Isaak songs. cool.gif

Yeah, I'm guessing it was a "retail mix" or whatever they call it when a store has a variety of canned music they've paid for. I suppose I should have complimented them on their choices but no doubt it was some office higher up that chose the mix, and not the counter help. But last night I went back and bought the shoes.

I've heard Chris quite a bit out and about lately. In Kohl's and Applebee in the last couple weeks. I'm usually with my mom, point to the ceiling(where the speakers are lol)and say, "Shhhh, it's Chris". Two weeks ago, a friend and I went out to a local bar that has live bands. This band was playing Skynyrd, and BTO and Journey and then all of sudden plays Wicked Game. I just about fell off my chair. I talked to the band during break and asked if they knew any other Isaak songs, but they said that was the only one they did...which is cool anyway. How many times to you hear a live band cover Isaak!?

KARAOKEVOX
He's become a houseband name, now.

The last few Google Alerts about Chris Isaak were just references.

"...used to tour with CI..."
"...sounds like CI..."
"...CI performed here..."

Wicked Game has been covered A LOT more than any of his other songs. Makes sense if you want to please your audiences to play the songs that work the room the best.

My opinion...if I'm going to expend the effort and money to go see a live show...I want something original. Otherwise, I can stay home and play the radio or play my favorite songs on disc. smile.gif

I'm getting A LOT more references to Chris Isaak being associated with Helena Christensen. "You know that hot girl in Chris Isaak's video?"

Supermodel Sued Over NYC Apartment Deck 1 day ago

NEW YORK (AP) — Helena Christensen recently appeared in an environmental ad campaign urging people to "do a good turn." But one of her New York neighbors says the Danish supermodel won't do the same in a dispute over a deck on her Manhattan apartment.

Fran Panasci sued Christensen in state Supreme Court on Thursday, seeking to have the wooden deck torn down. Panasci says the deck, off the model's home on Hudson Street in the chic West Village, generates noise and vibrations and intrudes on her building on neighboring Charles Street.

"It blocks all light, all air, and it's damaging my client's building," said Panasci's lawyer, Elizabeth Harrington. She said Panasci had tried unsuccessfully to settle the dispute without going to court.

But Christensen's spokesman, Jason Deyonker, said the deck was legal and Panasci's complaints "have already been addressed." He said Christensen had tried to resolve Panasci's concerns over the past year and had brought in an engineering firm to make sure the deck would not cause trouble.

Christensen, 38, became known in the U.S. after appearing in the atmospheric, black-and-white video for singer-songwriter Chris Isaak's hit "Wicked Game" in 1991. She co-owns a New York fashion and interior design shop, Butik.

Now, this is funny because Chris Isaak did a show about a neighbor building a deck and he calls the city, anonymously (ha!), to have him cited. Chris feels really bad about it...it wasn't his idea, it was Kenney's. Kenney convinced him that his neighbor was INFRINGING on his privacy. The whole show is about privacy because Yola has to deal with the papparazi taking pictures "through windows". They publish a photo of her and Isaak together in his car and Isaak APPEARS to have his hands all over her. For some ODD reason, like professional ethics, she's bothered by the photo and insinuation that they're romantically involved. What's wrong with that? Well, she's hanging around a group of very sucessful women whom she THINKS looks down upon her for going out with Chris. (She doesn't really know these women...and they look to me like they'd do the same thing). Chris even tells her that he's EXPECTED to fool around with her and every other female he comes into contact with. But he agrees to go out to eat with someone else for awhile... rolleyes.gif But in the end, he fails miserably at making peace with his neighbors, getting typecast in a film AND trying to convince Yola's "pals" that she's never used sex to advance her position. Oh, and Yola calls our hero a hero!

I share that opinion. Unless you're hired to play weddings, you should be able to create your own stuff for the most part. And even some wedding bands are all original.
Dreamin' of Chris
I'm singing in the shower, "I'm not sleepy.." really belting it out and then humming the music afterwards...After five minutes or so of this, my husband pops his head into the bathroom and asks me, "Is there anything more to that song?" In other words, why was I singing those lyrics over and over...? dry.gif I knew it must have sounded wierd but it was all I could remember (you know, locked into a loop of sorts)....
A little later, we were driving to lunch and I was searching through the five CI & S disks in the CD player for "I'm not Sleepy", but kept getting distracted by all my other "favorite" CI songs. Finally, we got to hear the whole song sang as it should be sung with all the appropriate instruments. Good thing....He might have throttled me to keep me from singing anymore!!! smile.gif
Later, he says, "Help!!! I have Chris Isaak stuck in my head!!" biggrin.gif Isn't that funny?
